Scottsdale's Saguaro High School is home to one of the state's elite overall girl's prospects in the state, as Saguaro High School’s, 5-foot-8 rising senior guard/forward Casey Rarrick is coming off her best season of all as a junior. As a result of such a strong junior season, Rarrick has moved up to our #2 overall spot in Arizona's 2014 class of prospects in our latest player rankings.
Rarrick received our #2 overall player ranking in our last edition of player rankings, and will again receive this same position in our new Spring Player Rankings.
As a junior, Rarrick was very impressive as she led her Saguaro Sabercats to this year's Division-II state championship - coming up very big in the state title game. For her efforts last season, Rarrick averaged a team-high 18.4 points, 3.2 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 4.1 steals per/game, while leading Saguaro to a strong 26-9 overall record on the season.
After a late-season loss on the road at Arcadia High School, Saguaro would hit their stride and win their last 7 games on the season - defeating a loaded Flowing Wells High School team in the state championship (49-38).
The Saguaro girls, like their boy's 2012-2013 team, would sport a well-balanced scoring attack of players that shoot the basketball very well and stretch the opposing team's defense a great deal. While not having a lot of size inside the paint, Saguaro, led by the play of Rarrick, would make it very difficult for team's to defend them, as each of their top performers possess an ability to shoot the basketball with range.
Rarrick is among the purest shooters of the basketball in the state of Arizona and is a big-time basketball gym rat, that is a fundamentally sound performer with a wide variety of offensive skillsets. She is also an excellent competitor and a great teammate that competes at a high level and plays with a superior level of confidence. As a result of her overall ability to play the game, she is regarded by our staff among the best girl's basketball talents in the state - regardless of class.
As Rarrick enters her senior season next year, she will look to lead her Sabercats back for another state title. Saguaro will look to be the clear Division-II favorite to win it all again next season, as head coach Chris Young will return each of his team's key contributors from last season, led by Rarrick and 5-foot-10 rising senior post Naomi Reyes and 5-foot-5 rising junior guard Jelani Huma.
Rarick is currently playing this spring and summer with her club program, the Arizona Elite, and is generating much division-I interest as a result. The Elite is among the most storied girl's club programs in the state and has placed a large number of girl's prospects in the division-I ranks over the years.
Look for Rarrick to receive high-major division-I college recruitment and attention this off-season, as she prepares to enter her senior season and cap off an excellent high school career within the state of Arizona.
