With the NCAA's fall signing period among us currently, many of Arizona's top-rated boys and girls basketball prospects are signing national letters of intent with the colleges of their choice.  Some prospects are signing in the fall, while most Arizona prospects will be delegated to waiting until the late, spring signing period.

Another prospect in the state has mnade his decision early.  After mulling over his options for the future, Gilbert Christian High School's talented 6-foot-4, 175-pound senior guard/forward Roberto Reyes has decided to sign a national letter of intent with Regis University - a division-II program located in the state of Washington.

Regis assistant coach and former Arizona native, Stevie Ledesma, was instrumental in the recruitment of Reyes.  Last spring, Ledesma also reeled in former Corona Del Sol HS standout Bryan Siefker, who is currently playing at the program.

Reyes, who was once regarded as a mid-major division-I prospect, is a very good signing for Regis University.  Reyes saw his college recruitment tail off last spring and summer at the division-I level, but he is a very good prospect for a smaller college program.

Reyes is a winner, and has led his Gilbert Christian HS program to two  consecutive state championships, and will look to help the program win another state championship this season in the Division-II Class - a much tougher test.  Last season, for a team that finished 30-3 overall, Reyes averaged 13.7 points and 4.4 assists per/outing.

Congratulations to Reyes and his family from our staff here at Arizona Preps on his college signing.

Arizona Hoop Review Scouting Report:  Reyes is a winner and does whatever it takes for hsi team to win ball games - offensively or defensively.  Whatever is needed of him, he provides it to make his team successful.  A very good athlete, Reyes rebounds hard and shows excellent toughness as a player – playing much bigger than his size suggests.  Finishes strong at and around the basket.  Has a very good mid-range game.  Although he is not a big-time shooter, he shoots a high percentage and makes shots needed to help his team win.  A very good slasher and open court player.  Excellent defender.  A good ball handler and passer.  A solid prospect all-around.
