With many Arizona prospects signing National Letters of Intent this week with their respective college programs, we can add Millennium High School's talented 6-foot-3, 180-pound senior guard Sabien Cain to the list of early signees. With some good offers on the table for himself, Cain made his college decision to sign with Cal-State Northridge University (CSUN), a member of the Big West Conference.
Cain held offers from Arizona State, Long Island University and High Point, before ultimately making his college decision for Cal-State Northridge. CSUN Head Coach Andy Newman and his coaching staff recently took over the program in April (2023), so Cain will be one of Newman and his staff's first overall recruits into the program.
A native of Carmel, Indiana, Cain was a nice addition to the Millennium High School basketball program this off-season, and has immediately provided scoring depth and versatility for Head Coach Ty Amundsen and his coaching staff. The addition of Cain to Millennium's lineup this season has Millennium eyeing a strong opportunity for an Open Division State Championship this high school season.
Last season as a junior in Indiana, Cain had a strong junior season for University High School - averaging 20.4 points and 4.8 rebounds, 2.3 steals and 2.1 assists and shooting 57% from the field and 45% from the 3-point line. This season, as a senior for Millennium HS, Cain will join a team very loaded with talent, as he joins top-rated junior prospect Kingston Tosi and top-rated sophomore prospect Cameron Holmes, as well as many other talented performers, to give Millennium one of the state's best overall lineups.
Cain provided excellent versatility for this year's Millennium, as he can play and defend multiple positions on the floor. Cain is a 2/3 prospect that will certainly see his time primarily as a combo-guard in college. He can be seen bringing the ball up the floor for Millennium, although several players have that option. Cain is a strong ball handler and sees the floor, which allows Millennium to run their offense through him often times. He is a good and willing passer, but also can provide strong scoring as well. He is a good shooter with range on his shot, and he also has a good mid-range game that allows him to score in a variety of ways. He has a strong, compact body and good overall toughness as a player. He is a strong rebounder from the guard position, and is a good overall defender that competes. I would have regarded him as a very good sleeper prospect, but his signing with a mid-major program definitely already supports that claim.
Congratulations to Cain and his family on this big commitment for him and the Millennium HS basketball program. Cain has had to overcome a lot of adversity in his short life, especially after losing his father almost two years ago. This is a very nice celebration for him and his future, after overcoming so much.
