After recently deciding to become a member of Arizona's and the nation's 2019 Class, and advancing to his natural grade of high school, Pinnacle High School's superstar guard Nico Mannion is nearing his college decision, as he now has his sights set on two different college programs. The historically gifted Arizona prospect will soon make his college decision between the University of Arizona and Marquette University.
After recently narrowing his list of college programs down to his final four schools, Mannion recently decided to actually drop defending national champion Villanova and Duke from his list of schools - possibly the nation's top two college programs.
Mannion will now make his college decision between the Arizona Wildcats and head coach Sean Miller's top-rated program, and Marquette University, where terrific assistant coach Stan Johnson has gotten his program into the final two programs for Mannion. Johnson was the first to offer Mannion while an assistant coach at Arizona State.
Mannion and his gifted club teammate, Arizona native Josh Green, both have University of Arizona among their final schools, and both prospects could land in Tucson - electing to play together in college. Only time will soon tell.
I will continue to follow this recruitment closely and bring you any updates as they continue to develop.
Arizona Hoop Review Scouting Report: Mannion is a very slick guard prospect with an excellent handle of the basketball and a superb overall offensive skillset. He has excellent quickness and athleticism, and pushes the basketball up the floor at a high rate. He is a terrific shooter of the basketball with range on his shot and a quick release. A fundamentally sound performer, Mannion has a superior knack of scoring the basketball at a high level, and is almost undstoppable off the dribble, where he surveys the floor and decides whether to drive past defenders or shoot the basketball from the perimeter. He is an excellent passer that sees the floor and makes players around him better. A good on the ball defender with good lateral quickness. Plays passing lanes very well. An active rebounder for his size. The son of a former professional player, Pace Mannion. Mannion is a sure-fire pro prospect for the future and is among the elite prospects in America. A future legend for Arizona basketball that will be remembered for his legacy when it is all said and done.
