In a huge announcement this week, rising (2028) superstar, 6-foot-3 incoming freshman guard Kyi Kyi Miles has decided to enroll at Mesa High School. Miles made the announcement this week on a video produced by local basketball video aficionado Timeout, where he was seen in the video in a Mesa uniform and working out with former Mesa High legendary guard Jahii Carson, Miles' personal basketball trainer. Carson was a big reason for Miles landing at local Mesa High School, where Miles will now enter his freshman season and look to break Carson's tremendous scoring record at the Jackrabbits' program.
Carson played two seasons for Mesa High School, and broke all the scoring records in the process, and in just two high school seasons, before Carson went on to star at Arizona State University. While not being drafted, Carson went on to play for the Houston Rockets before taking his game to play professionally overseas. Carson still plays professionally, but is already beginning to position himself for a life after his professional career. As a pillar in the Mesa basketball community, Carson has began to train youth basketball prospects in the Mesa area, and wants to continue to build his business in his Mesa backyard, where he is highly regarded by the Mesa community. Kyi Myi Miles is just one of the elite prospects trained by Carson, and it is an amazing story for sure, as Miles will look to now take an historic Mesa basketball program back to the top of the state's team rankings.
Miles joins a Mesa program which has loads of banners hanging in their gymnasium, which dates back to 1914. I have never seen so many state title banners in one gymnasium, then can be seen in the Mesa High gymnasium. Mesa has one of the most historic basketball programs in the state, and the program has produced many elite players over the years, such as Lee Cummard (BYU) and also top-rated HS coaches, such as Shane Burcar (NAU Head Coach). Burcar led the program for many years before moving on to take a job at Northern Arizona, where he is now the Head Coach. Following up in Burcar's footsteps has been Scott Stansberry, one of the elite coaches in the state, and one of the hardest workers. Stansberry was awarded as our Arizona Preps Coach of the Year in 2021. Annually, Stansberry has been able to produce a consistent winning program, while not having a superstar prospect in his program. Mesa won 20+ games last season in the 6A Division, without Miles. Now with Miles in the fold, it will be very interesting to see what the Mesa program is capable of.
The addition of Miles for Mesa High will be a huge addition for the Jackrabbits, as Miles enters the program as one of the most decorated middle school prospects to enter the Arizona high school basketball ranks in the history of the state. Miles is regarded nationally as a Top 5 national prospect in America's 2028 Class, and alongside close friend, Williams Field High School's incoming freshman superstar Aiden Diggs, the two elite 2028 prospects will certainly battle throughout their high school careers for the top overall spot in the class - locally and nationally. Both prospects are currently rated among the Top 5 national 2028 prospects, and should see this trend again once ESPN releases their 2028 rankings in the near future.
Miles has played up all of his life, and played the past two seasons for multiple AZ Compass Prep teams where he was the youngest performer on the floor. Miles played on the AZ Compass Prep Green 17U team as a mere 7th grader, and continued to flourish within the AZ Compass Prep program as an eighth grader also, when he played for AZ Compass Prep Black last season. Miles also showcased his extreme talents on the club circuit with the highly-acclaimed Oakland Soldiers (CA) on the Nike EYBL circuit. Miles is quickly becoming a household name nationally, but received his first national acclaim as a highly regarded prospect with his former club program Sneakersteal, which is regarded as one of the top club programs in the country for younger prospects.
Kyi Kyi excelled all prep season against older competition, and this spring and summer he continued his strong play on the older 15U Nike EYBL circuit, while traveling with the Oakland Soldiers (CA). In one Nike EYBL event this spring, Miles exploded on the EYBL circuit, as he had numerous strong performances and poured in a game-high 35 points in a match-up with then #1 ranked Team Durant.
Miles has been regarded as one of the elite prospects in America for the 2028 Class for some time now, being a widely recognized prospect on the Made Hoops basketball circuit, and being regarded by many scouts that cover younger prospects as the top overall guard prospect in the country. For the national scouts and media that had not heard yet, he is quickly proving everyone right and is blowing up right before the basketball community's eyes, as he is now receiving rave national reviews on social media and among national basketball circles.
As a result of the excitement that has been generated by this young phenom, college programs are getting in line, as numerous Division-I programs have already extended offers to Miles. His recent offers from Arizona State University and Creighton were big offers for him, and he has also already received offers already from Texas Tech University, University of Texas-Arlington and University of San Francisco. It is just a matter of time before just about every Division-I program in the country will offer this young man, as he is regarded as one the nation's top overall guards prospects, and he has an electric game and personality - a fine looking young prospect destined for greatness in the sport as he matures.
Miles has always had success against older competition, as he is primed and ready for greatness - working very hard on his game and craft since he was extremely young. He is an advanced guard prospect and basketball player with a tremendous offensive skillset, that allows him to create shots at a high rate and score the basketball at a high rate. He is a pure scorer of the basketball with a pure handle as well, and can play as a scorer and as a facilitator, taking what the defense gives him. He is a big-time scorer of the basketball with a nice shooting stroke, able to pull up on a dime and his strong handle of the ball allows him to create shots for himself and his teammates. He has an advanced overall feel for the game and a high basketball IQ, which has allowed him to flourish early in his playing career. He is also a strong competitor that competes hard on the defensive end and accepts challenges on the floor - willing to guard the opposing team's best player.
Miles is next in line among young national elite prospects in the state, as he is part of a very loaded 2028 Class in the state of Arizona. Miles is among the best of them nationally, and will be very enjoyable to continue to watch develop and perform, now for the Mesa High Jackrabbits.
