One of the best sleeper prospects in Arizona’s 2016 class is officially off the recruiting board as 6-foot, 180-pound senior point guard Kendrick Williams (pictired left) of Dobson (Mesa) HS, and a member of the Arizona Aces aau/club program has officially signed with head coach Steve Silsby and his basketball staff at Chandler-Gilbert Community College.
A well-built guard, Williams performed at a very high level every time I saw him compete throughout the season. He has the ability to use a quick burst of speed to get by defenders and get to the basket, where he thrives off finishing thru contact and converting on difficult shots. Williams also has the ability to get hot in a hurry from outside, as he can rattle off many 3-pointers in a row, if left open and given time and space. He also excels in transition, as he likes to push the ball out and get a quick score for him or one of his teammates - if they are open to score.
One of my favorite things about Williams as a player, is his overall toughness and passion on both ends of the court. He will do whatever it takes to get that bucket in crunch time, and will give his heart on the defensive end to make sure he makes a timely stop for him and his team. Williams also has the ability to be a solid floor general on the court, as he looks for his teammates as much as he seeks his own shot - if the timing is appropriate.
Look for Williams to be one of the better freshman point guards next year in the ACCAC, as he is a player who will grow the more and more he plays the game.
