One of my favorite overall prospects in Arizona's 2025 Class is now officially off the recruiting board, as the well traveled AZ Compass Prep 6-foot-5 senior guard Jaden Vance has now decided to end his college recruitment and in fine fashion. Vance, while mulling over his recruiting offers for some time, announced on Monday that he has given a verbal commitment and will sign with the University of California-San Diego (UCSD). UCSD finished with an amazing 30-5 overall record last season - winning the Big West Conference and earning a spot in the NCAA National Tournament. New Head Coach Clint Allard was named as the new Head Coach for UCSD recently, after previous Head Coach Eric Olen took the University of New Mexico job.
Vance is one of the top overall talents in America's 2025 Class, and his strong performance last spring and summer on the Nike EYBL circuit proved his unique level of talent and promise for the future. Vance played for the Vegas Elite 17U Nike-sponsored program. Vance showed excellent offensive and defensive versatility, as he led a talented Vegas Elite team.
Vance was very well traveled throughout his high school career. Vance began his career at AZ Compass Prep before landing at Bella Vista Prep as a sophomore, then moving to Utah Prep, before returning this senior season back to AZ Compass Prep.
Vance is one of my favorite overall prospects in the state, regardless of class, as I love his skill level and long, rangy physical frame. He has tremendous upside as a player and has unlimited potential for the future. He is a very skilled and lengthy guard prospect with a nice handle and feel for the game. A very good scorer with a slick approach to the game, and is able to weave in and out of the lane with his dribble, and finish strong at the basket. Vance can create scoring opportunities for himself and others, almost at will. He is a very good shooter with range and a quick release. Has a nice mid-range game as well, and pushes the basketball up the floor. He is able to plays fast and has excellent body control. He is also a slick defender with quick hands and feet, and good court anticipation. He also plays with superior confidence on the floor. He is an underrated prospect and has as high of a ceiling as any other prospect in the 2025 Class.
Congratulations to Vance and his family on this accomplishment, as well as the staff @ AZ Compass Prep on another achievement for their amazing program.
