Another member of Arizona's 2016class has found a college home this week, as Gilbert High School's talented 6-foot-6, 190-pound senior forward Jacob Nicolds has made his college decision.
This week, Nicolds decided to give a verbal commitment to Dixie State University and head coach Jon Judkins and his coaching staff. Assistant coach and valley native, Kevin Williamson, was instrumental in the college recruitment of Nicolds. Williamson has made a living out of recruiting Arizona's best basketball prospects, and he looks to have done it again - reeling in Nicolds for next fall.
Nicolds is a tough and gritty forward prospect that plays with a purpose and aggravates opposing players with an in-your-face defensive effort. Nicolds is a prospect that does not need the basketball and makes plays for himself and others through sheer effort and hard work. He is a winner as a result of his willingness to do the dirty work on the floor, and accept challenges. He is very athletic for his size and is a good shooter of the basketball. He takes good shots within the offense and is a winner on and off the basketball court. Nicolds has excellent work ethic and competes at a high level.
This season, Nicolds helped lead his Gilbert HS team a strong finish during the 2015-2016 high school basketball season, and a nice state playoff run before losing to Sunnyslope HS (56-53) in the Division-I state semi-finals.
Nicolds is the younger brother of Gilbert HS former talented 2014 graduate Spencer Nicolds, who played for Idaho State before recently leaving the school.
Congratulations to Nicolds on this amazing accomplishment from our staff here at Arizona Preps.
