With numerous prospects in the 2025 Class looking to make their college decisions this fall, there is no bigger decision or bigger prospect in the state than Perry High School's dominant force, 6-foot-8 senior Koa Peat. Peat has helped to transform the state of Arizona's basketball culture through his amazing exploits on the basketball court, and has generated offers from every top college program in the country, in the process. Peat recently narrowed down his list of college programs to (10) schools that he has focused on in his college recruitment. Peat is currently taking official and unofficial recruiting visits to each of the programs, and will make his huge college decision this fall.
There has been wide speculation on where Peat will ultimately land. Who will win the Koa Peat sweepstakes? The addition of a prospect with the size, skillset and following of a prospect like Peat could catapult any college program to another level, so the current recruitment of Pete has been fierce.
With more than 30+ Division-I offers on the table for himself, Peat recently narrowed down his list of schools to (10) college programs that he would focus on in making his college decision. Duke, North Carolina, Arizona, Texas, Baylor, UCLA, Arkansas, Houston, Michigan and Arizona State are the ten programs he was focused on, but now the list has been trimmed to (9) programs, as Peat was being recruited by the previous Michigan staff.
Peat recently took an official recruiting visit to Arizona State, and the Sun Devils look to be a major contender to land Peat, although it is widely known that Arizona is "throwing the kitchen-sink" at Peat to lure the superstar prospect to Tucson. Both Arizona and Arizona State will be in the mix down to the end it looks, although the attraction to Duke and North Carolina will be hard for Peat to pass up, as well as the major Nike presence for both programs. It is being widely discussed in national basketball circles also that Baylor will have an excellent opportunity to land Peat as well, as a result of the size of the NIL opportunity that they can put together for him. There have been many rumors surrounding Peat's college recruitment over the past several months, but everyone knew this would be a long recruiting process going into it. Either way, Peat should be making his college decision this fall and signing a national letter of intent during the Early Signing Period.
Peat is coming off another strong and impressive performance this spring and summer, while playing again for his Compton Magic 3SSB program on the Adidas 3SSB circuit. Peat was one of the featured high school basketball prospects again throughout the country all spring and summer, and now he is entirely focused on his personal college recruitment.
Peat returns this high school season for finale of an absolutely dominant high school basketball career. Peat will look to lead his Perry High School basketball program to an amazing fourth consecutive State Championship this season, and a third-consecutive Open Division State Championship.
Last season, Peat was selected as the Max Preps Arizona Player of the Year, and also the Gatorade Player of the Year, among many other accomplishments, for his performance throughout his junior season, which resulted in Perry High School winning another Open Division State Championship, after posting a 25-6 overall record on the season for Perry. Peat averaged 20.5 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 2.2 blocks per game. He also came up big in the state final - leading the way with 21 points, 13 rebounds and four assists to help Perry overcome a 17-point deficit in the state championship game to knock off Millennium High School, 71-67.
Peat will certainly be focused again on winning it all and riding off into the sunset as the state's most dominant and impressive basketball prospect ever. Right now though, he is totally focused on his college recruiting, and I am personally looking forward to following his college recruitment closely, as he nears his amazing college decision.
Arizona Hoop Review Scouting Report: Peat has excellent size at 6-foot-8 and weighing 215 pounds, as he is very light on his feet and has very good athleticism and length of body, which allows him to play even bigger than his size suggests. He also has great hands and is physically very strong with broad shoulders, and is agile on his feet. He will only continue to improve and become much more of a physical force over time, which is scary to think of. He has a very good skill level that allows him to score inside and out, while possessing a good handle and amazing body control and explosiveness off the floor. He has developed his perimeter skills and has an improved shooting stroke with range, to keep defenses honest, while also being able to score off the dribble and finish strong over defenders in the lane. A next level finisher inside the paint. Gets to the free throw line quite often and relishes physical contact, although he can get into foul trouble easily. He has strong low post skills and good low post footwork, which allows him to score almost at will around the basket. He runs the floor hard like a guard and is a strong scorer in the open floor. An elite rebounder and finisher, and also a very good shot blocker with excellent timing. A generational talent for the state of Arizona and a future NBA Lottery pick.
