Dream City Christian Prep has been one of the elite prep programs in the country for many years now, and is fresh off signing a new deal with Nike and joining the Nike EYBL Scholastic League. Dream City had an excellent season this year, after numerous big wins this season. A major reason for the success of the program this season came at the hands of Notre Dame Prep senior transfer, 6-foot-1, 170-pound senior guard Brennan Peterson. Peterson moved to Dream City Christian for his senior season, and shot the lights out against top-rated national competition - earning himself several Division-I offers. Peterson has now given a verbal commitment to Northern Arizona University and Head Coach Shane Burcar and his staff.
Burcar and his staff have continued to do an excellent job in recruiting the state of Arizona, and Peterson is the next in line of local products signing with NAU. Peterson has really developed in the Arizona basketball culture, and has been an elite performer on the Arizona basketball hardwood for some time now. During his senior season and while playing for one of the top prep teams and programs in the country, and alongside some serious pro-level talent, Peterson flourished and really made his impact with the group. Peterson flat out shot the cover off the basketball this prep season, and has been regarded among the top overall shooters and performers this season on the Grind Session, which is known consistently for producing high level players and intense national competition.
Peterson decided to transfer programs after last season, where he helped Notre Dame Prep to a very successful high school season as a junior. Peterson had an excellent high school career for himself at Notre Dame Prep. After entering the high school ranks as a top-rated middle school prospect three years ago, Peterson produced at a very high level throughout his high school career. The combination of Peterson, 6-foot-3 senior Bryce Quinet (Evansville signee) and ultra-athletic guard Anthony Batson (Stanford signee) was formidable, as the trio became an absolute force for the Notre Dame Prep program. Peterson was very consistent in his performances in all (3) seasons at Notre Dame Prep, as he averaged strong career numbers of 15.7 points, 3.9 assists and 2.3 rebounds per/game.
Congratulations to Peterson and his family, as well as the Dream City Christian Prep program, on another big commitment from their program. Well done by Peterson who earned this opportunity through consistent strong play and performances.
Arizona Preps Scouting Report: As a college prospect, Peterson is a strong floor general with an excellent feel for the game and a unique shooting prowess. He is a heady floor general that commands presence on the basketball court, is very efficient in his approach to the game and make plays for himself and his teammates consistently. Peterson reminds me of a young John Stockton, as he has an excellent handle of the basketball, sets up his teammates for scoring opportunities and makes shots at a high and consistent level. He is a specialist as a shooter - something all college programs need to be successful. He is very poised as a player, and nothing seems to rattle him on or off the floor. He is also a good defender with quick hands, and understand angles on the floor. He is fundamentally sound and makes up for his lack of size with a high basketball IQ. Peterson is a winner and makes every team he plays for better.
