The wait is now over for Perry High School's gifted 6-foot-5, 190-pound senior forward D'Andre Harrison, after he recently gave a nice verbal commitment to a program in the Summit League. After considering his options for some time, Harrison found his fit with the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) - announcing his decision to sign with the program this fall.
UMKC Head Coach Marvin Menzies and his staff have done an amazing job in recruiting the state of Arizona, since Menzies took over the program. UMKC will have (5) different Arizona prospects on their roster this season, more than any other Division-I program in the country. Now they will add the services of Perry's D'Andre Harrison next season, another excellent addition to the UMKC program.
Harrison chose to sign with UMKC over offers from Murray State, Northern Arizona, Arkansas-Fort Smith and Western New Mexico.
Harrison is one of the state's top individual producers, as he has helped his Perry High School program become one of the most dominant high school programs in the country. Perry has won 3-consecutive state championships, two consecutive Open Division State Championships and will look to win a fourth consecutive state title and third consecutive Open Division state title this season.
Harrison came up big all season for Head Coach Sam Duane Jr., and then continued his strong play on the club circuit this spring and summer with Peak Basketball Academy. Harrison was in rare form this spring and summer, and now looks ready to have an even bigger senior season for himself, and end his career with a fourth consecutive state championship.
Congratulations to Harrison and his family on this amazing accomplishment from our staff here @ Arizona Preps. Look for Harrison to be one of elite performers again this high school season, as he caps off a tremendous high school career for himself this season.
Arizona Hoop Review Scouting Report: Harrison has excellent versatility as a player, and also a nice overall offensive skillset for himself. He has a nice ability to make plays on the floor. Harrison is very explosive for his size and he plays much bigger than his size suggests - a nice attribute that he possesses, which makes him very valuable to his team. He can score from all (3) levels and is a strong rebounder and finisher around the basket for his size. He is very skilled and plays with a high level of confidence. Harrison is a true mis-match on the basketball court and is effective inside and out - making him difficult to defend. A very good sleeper prospect.
