One of the top remaining unsigned prospects in Arizona's 2024 Class is now off the recruiting board, as Basha High School's 6-foot-5 graduating senior Christian Warren advised Arizona Preps that he has decided to accept an offer from Riverside City College, and will look to sign with the program and begin his freshman year at the school. While Warren received interest from numerous junior college programs late, he has now chosen to go to the state of California for his junior college career, which he will look to expand to a four-year college after his stint in the juco ranks.
Basha High School has been very successful as a basketball program under the strong leadership of Head Coach Mike Grothaus - winning a state championship in 2017 with an almost perfect season. Since then, Basha has excelled in each high school season - competing for an opportunity to win a state championship in the 6A Division or an opportunity to win an Open Division State Championship each season. This past season, Basha had their best opportunity to win it all again, as the program started the season with a 9-1 record, before finishing with 22-7 overall record and falling to Perry High School (83-79) in the Open Division State Semi-Finals. The play of Christian Warren over the past several years was instrumental in making Basha one of the most feared teams in the state throughout Warren's high school career.
Warren was a major catalyst for the Basha basketball program throughout his four-year high school career, where he ranked among the program's leaders in scoring, rebounding and overall toughness for the program over the past four years. Warren is certainly expected to have a strong career in the junior college ranks, before moving on to a four-year college program, which he will have no problem doing in the future. The opportunity for Warren to play at a junior college will certainly boost his college recruitment. Warren was a very under recruited prospect throughout his high school career, so a stint in the junior college ranks should serve him very nicely.
Warren has excellent versatility as a player as he is able to defend several positions on the court, and he also plays much bigger than his size suggests. His value to a team is immense, as he has proven himself consistently on and off the court, and developed himself into a serious college prospect. Warren is very deceivingly athletic, which really benefits his game, as he is very active on the glass and able to make plays as a result of his athleticism and tenacity.
Warren is also an excellent student with a 3.7 CUM GPA. He is a strong leader on and off the court, which will ultimately benefit him in life.
Congratulations to Christian Warren and the Warren family on this accomplishment, and great luck to him in the future, as he should certainly benefit a great deal from the exposure given to junior college prospects, over time. I will continue to follow Warren closely throughout his junior college career, and will bring you any more recruiting updates regarding Warren as they develop.
Arizona Hoop Review Scouting Report: Warren has excellent versatility as a player as he is able to defend several positions on the court, and he also plays much bigger than his size suggests. His value to a team has really grown on me over the past year, as he has proven himself consistently on and off the court, and has become a serious college prospect. Warren is very deceivingly athletic, which really benefits his game, as he is very active on the glass and able to make plays as a result of his athleticism and tenacity. Warren is a very skilled forward with a very good shooting stroke with range, and when he is making shots, he really gets going, as it opens up his full game. Warren is also a strong driver and finisher at the basket, and he is able to score effectively over bigger defenders. He is a strong rebounder as a result of his length, one of his best assets as a player. He is active on the glass and also rebounds outside of his area. Warren is also an excellent defender and has a long wingspan, which allows him to play passing lanes well. He is a good ball handler and looks for the open man on the floor. He will most likely be a 3 / 4 prospect in college and over time, as a result of his playing style. A very good sleeper prospect for a smaller college program.
