Supreme Academy is a new prep program in the state, and the program had an excellent performance in this year's Arizona Preps Fall Showcase event in October. No prospect in the event had a better performance than Supreme Academy 6-foot-3 senior guard Carlos Coronado. Coronado was terrific in his performance in this year's event, and has been among the elite performers in the state's 2025 Class for some time now. Coronado has worked really hard on his game over the years, and it has firmly paid off for him now, as he gave a nice verbal commitment this weekend to Northern Illinois University.
Coronado chose to give Head Coach Rashon Burno and Northern Illinois University his commitment, after receiving some good Division-I offers for himself. Coronado also received offers from Lamar, Incarnate Word, Western Illinois and Howard, before making his college decision.
We have spoken about the talents of this young man for several years now, so it is no surprise to me that Coronado has risen to the top of the state's best overall guard prospects. Coronado received his first offer fromĀ Lamar University, and began to generate loads of interest soon after.
Coronado is a true point guard prospect with a very good feel for the game, and an ability to score the basketball at a high level. While still very thin physically, he is a pass-first point guard prospect and is a slick ball handler and passer that sees the floor. He plays with a high level of confidence in himself, and makes players around him better - a very nice attribute for a point guard. Coronado has extreme upside as a college prospect, and should only continue to get much better over time, especially with natural maturity and more physical strength. Coronado has been on the rise for some time now as a college prospect. He has the ability to play the point guard position at a high level, and should continue to just get better over time.
Coronado played forĀ Coolidge High School, and was a standout performer for the program, before deciding to make the big move to the prep school ranks. He first landed at PHH Prep, before now landing at Supreme Academy.
Congratulations to Coronado and his family, as well as the Supreme Academy program on this amazing accomplishment. Coronado will look to have a big season for Supreme Academy, before moving on now to play at the mid-major Division-I level. Hard work and commitment to his craft has really paid off for Coronado. He is an excellent role model for today's Arizona basketball prospects.
