One of the top overall prospects in the state of Arizona, regardless of class, is St. Mary's High School's gifted and promising 6-foot-10, 195-pound junior forward Cam Williams. Williams is developing fast as a player and as a college prospect. After a strong, breakout sophomore season for himself, Williams is now on the rise in a major way in his college recruitment. After a strong spring performance, Williams had a very good June, including a strong performance in the recent Section 7 event. As a result, he has now received a Top 40 national ranking by ESPN, and many other national scouting services, and is headed for a big junior season for himself.
Williams played with the Vegas Elite (NV), EYBL Nike-sponsored 16U club program this spring on the Nike EYBL circuit, and proved his unique ability amongst his peers. Williams opened many eyes with his promise as a college prospect, as a result of his large size, length and skillset. He has a very nice ability to run the floor and finish with a soft touch in transition and also from the perimeter. Williams is a big-time talent that I have been talking about for the last year or so, and now he is just beginning to begin to tap into his potential as a player with loads of upside for the future.
Williams also recently received a Nike Top 100 invite. Williams is quickly becoming an elite national prospect, and his recent #41 national ranking by ESPN has proven it. Williams is coming off a breakout season for the St. Mary's Knights, and also a strong spring. He will look to finish off the busy recruiting month of July with a strong performance over the next two NCAA Evaluation Periods.
Williams currently has offers from San Diego State, Oklahoma State and Washington State, and is well deserving of many more offers. This new player ranking will certainly help him in his pursuit to become a Top 25 national prospect, but it should also help more Division-I college programs to understand his value and ability to play the game, as he is currently well under recruited. I expect many more offers to follow for Williams in the very near future, and especially over the next year. Williams should become one of the hottest prospects in the West, and soon, the country for the 2026 Class.
Williams is unlike any other prospect in the state, and it is obvious, as he has excellent size and length on a young, fluid frame that looks like he still has loads of room for growth. He is very skilled and has the offensive skillset that suggests that he will be a very versatile prospect over time, with an ability to play multiple positions on the floor, and also defend multiple positions, especially the 4 and 5 positions defensively. Williams is a unicorn prospect and is still growing a great deal. He is a special and unique-level talent that is just scratching the surface of how good he can and will become over time.
I will continue to look forward to watching Williams develop over the couple years, as this young man will ultimately change the game in Arizona, over time. The state is loaded with youthful talent for the future, and Williams is one of the best.
Arizona Hoop Review Scouting Report: Williams is unlike any other prospect in the state, and it is obvious, as he has excellent size and length on a young, fluid frame that looks like he still has a lot of room for growth. He is still growing a great deal and will fill into his long, rangy frame over time. And he has a lot of time to grow and develop over the next couple years, which is almost scary. Williams' upside is almost limitless, and he looks like a future pro over time, as a result of his unique skillset and ability to make shots from the perimeter or off the dribble - resembling a young Kevin Durant-type. He could become close to 7-feet tall over time. Either way he is very skilled already, and will only continue to develop much more over the next two high school seasons. A unicorn. An elite-level prospect with pro-level upside.
