St. Mary's High School's promising 6-foot-11, 200-pound junior Cam Williams is having a big junior breakout season for himself, and is on the rise with many college programs across the country as a result. While his team has struggled at times this early season to perform, Williams has more than does his job - posting big numbers this season and proving the potential that has many national scouts and media raving about his future as a player. The time is now for Cam Williams, as he has become one of the hottest 2026 prospects in the country.
St. Mary's (3-7) has struggled this early season to win games, as the team has once again had a tough early season schedule and has struggled with their overall guard play. With 6-foot junior transfer and starting point guard Brody Postorino sitting out for (9) games due to the transfer rule (via Notre Dame Prep), the team has struggled mightily with turnovers. Williams' play has been enough for the team to stay very competitive in each game, but they have needed to be full strength to bring it home. The addition of Postorino to the Knights' lineup, as the team begins to settle into Region play will be immense for this team down the season stretch.
Williams has been terrific in his junior season, as he has shown serious development as a player and a very fluid offensive repertoire that reminds me of a young Kevin Durant. Williams has become very comfortable in his skin in his junior season, and his ability to shoot the basketball with range, score with either hand around the basket, run the floor like a guard and block and change shots consistently has taken his overall game to another level this season, and college coaches are beginning to line up for him.
Williams currently has offers from Stanford, Notre Dame, San Diego State, Oklahoma State and Washington State, and is well deserving of many, many more offers. Lately, he has received very strong interest from Arizona, UCONN, USC and TCU. He is currently well under recruited and I expect many more offers to follow for Williams in the very near future, and especially over the next year. Williams should become one of the hottest prospects in the West, and soon, the country for the 2026 Class.
Williams is quickly becoming an elite national prospect, and his recent #41 national ranking by ESPN has proven it. Williams is also coming off a strong spring and summer with the Vegas Elite Nike EYBL program.
Williams currently is leading his St. Mary's program in this year's Nike Tournament of Champions event, and he is fresh off a 31 point, 14 rebound and 5 blocks performance in the event on Thursday evening, in his team's loss to a tough and well-coached Redondo Union High School (CA) program.
I will continue to look forward to watching Williams continue to develop into a serious national prospect, one that could mirror the past recruiting success of Cody Williams (Utah Jazz-NBA) during his final spring and summer (2025). Stay tuned.
Arizona Hoop Review Scouting Report: Williams is unlike any other prospect in the state, and it is obvious, as he has excellent size and length on a young, fluid frame that looks like he still has a lot of room for growth. He is still growing a great deal and will fill into his long, rangy frame over time. And he has a lot of time to grow and develop over the next couple years, which is almost scary. Williams' upside is almost limitless, and he will become a future NBA pro over time, as a result of his unique skillset and ability to make shots from the perimeter or off the dribble - resembling a young Kevin Durant-type. He will grow close to 7-feet tall over time. Either way he is very skilled already, and will only continue to develop much more over the next two high school seasons. A unicorn. An elite-level prospect with pro-level upside.
