One of the top middle-school prospects to ever enter into the Arizona high school ranks, is Desert Ridge High School's incoming freshman post player Jason Harris. Already standing at 6-foot-8 in heigth and possessing serious length and athleticism, Harris is a young force that has already received loads off recruiting attention across the country. This season he will enter the Arizona high school basketball ranks, and everyone is in anticipation to see what he will do.
Harris is a very heralded young prospect like that of Marvin Bagley before him. Like Bagley, Jason Harris enters the Arizona high school ranks as one of the elite overall prospects in the country for his age - ranking as high as #1 player in the country by some national scouting services. While no one believes Harris will be the prospect over time that Marvin Bagley is, Harris will still be an impressive talent for the elite high major level.
Harris will take over at Desert Ridge High School this high school season - a program that recently lost star 6-foot-5 junior guard Timmy Allen to a transfer to Red Mountain High School. In his absence, Harris will now take over the spotlight. While he is still very young, he has a unique talent level that will get Desert Ridge fans excited.
What is most impressive about Harris is the sheer fact that he is also rated among the top football prospects in the country already as well, already possessing several high-major division-I offers from such schools as Oregon State. Harris is a rare find in the sport of football - a player of his size, length and with superior athleticism. He will have the option I believe of playing at the highest level in either basketball or football. It will just depend on which sport he decides to put the work into.
I look forward to watching this young man take the floor this high school season - beginning the career of one of the next great ones to come out of the state of Arizona.
Arizona Hoop Review Scouting Report: Harris a very long and lengthy athletic forward prospect with loads of potential for the future. He is well beyond his years as a college prospect, as he possesses the physical tools that most kids his age do not have. As he matures physically, this young man should blossom a great deal over time. Harris runs the floor hard and is a good finisher in the open floor. He has a soft touch on his jump shot out to 15 feet, and is capable of also making shots beyond the arc, although his consistency drops from longer ranges. Harris is a very good low post scorer at this point in his young career, as he has a nice jump hook and also can turn and face. He is an active rebounder and shotblocker - two nice attributes from a post prospect. This young man's potential for the future is limitless.
