This weekend the Arizona’s Finest Showcase took place at Inspire Courts.  Hosted by tournament organizer Michael Clark of Arizona’s Finest Videos, this event was an exciting showcase of some of the state’s elite basketball talent. Clark has done an excellent job over the past couple of years of putting together excellent highlight video footage of Arizona’s top-rated basketball prospects, and this was his first actual event for his business.  As a result, the event kicked off the spring evaluation period with some of the top upperclassmen, some who will be moving on to the college ranks next season, and also some very good…

Grand Canyon High School is coming off a strong 2013-2014 high school basketball season, reaching the state playoffs and finishing with a 23-9 overall record on the season.  While Grand Canyon would fall short of reaching the state finals, losing to Scottsdale Prep in the state quarterfinals, they would receive a terrific season from their top overall prospect in the program – 6-foot-5, 195-pound senior forward Joey Bankston. After a strong sophomore season for himself in helping lead his Mesa Junior College program to this year’s ACCAC Conference Championship and a First-Team All-Conference selection, 6-foot-6, 235-pound sophomore forward Camyn Boone has made his college decision. Millennium High School’s talented 2014 post prospect Elston Jones is regarded as one of the premier prospects in Arizona’s senior class, but it has been a tough road for Jones in his senior year.  Jones would miss his senior season of basketball after suffering a tear to his patella tendon in a freak injury after another player landed on his knee last spring, while playing on the AAU/club circuit.  As a result of the injury, Jones would miss the remainder of the club season – his most important summer evaluation period as a senior prospect.
