After it looked as though he was headed to Grand Canyon University next fall, Florence High School’s 6-foot-10 senior post Jeremy Verhagen is now headed in a significantly different direction, as he signed a division-I scholarship on Monday afternoon. Verhagen generated a lot of division-I interest for himself during the April evaluation period.  While playing with a very talented Team Power Black group, Verhagen boosted his exposure to college coaches this spring – enough to garner enough interest in himself to land a division-I deal. After careful consideration, Verhagen has signed a division-I scholarship with the University of Northern Colorado and…

No one has been through more than former Brophy Prep High School 2011 graduate Sai Tummala.  After a very diminished college recruitment as a senior in high school, Tummala’s athletic potential caught the eye of one of the nation’s top basketball programs – the University of Michigan.  Tummala took his chances at playing in Ann Arbor, and decided to walk on to the storied basketball program, only to transfer schools less than a year later – heading the junior college route in an attempt to improve his college recruitment and for an opportunity at a much brighter future. The Arizona Magic Pump N’ Run-2014’s, a team comprised of some of the state’s top 2014 prospects, has been on an absolute tear this spring season.  After starting off the spring evaluation period with a tournament win at this year’s Southwest Showcase Main Event, the team continued their terrific play in this year’s Double Pump Hoop Fest in Los Angeles, CA – winning the big 17U championship in the event. Saguaro High School’s sharp-shooting 185-pound unsigned senior combo-guard Ryan Berg has become a very hot target among unsigned senior prospects in the state.  The much improved and hard-to-guard guard prospect has flat out put on a shooting exhibition this spring, and, as a result, has seen his college recruitment begin to take off. Berg is as much improved a player as I have seen in recent years, as he went from simply a pure shooter of the basketball, to now being almost unguardable with the basketball in his hands.  Berg’s quickness off the dribble, ball handling prowess, court vision and ability…

This last weekend kicked off the start of which looks to be a very talent laden West Coast club basketball season.  While the Nike EYBL and Double Pump Hoop Fest opened up in Los Angeles, California, I happened to watch a majority of the top kids on the West Coast and beyond in fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada at the Pangos Spring Spectacular hosted by Dino Trigonis and Bishop Gorman High School, and other locations.  I was shocked at how high of a level these kids were playing at so early in the club season. Of the talented kids I personally watched, here are my…
