Skyline Prep High School is a newer school located in South Phoenix and is a member of the Canyon Athletic Association (CAA), a charter school. Most basketball enthusiasts in the state have not seen the level of basketball played in this conference, as the teams that play in this conference have gone unnoticed and without attention for many years. Simply because these high school teams do not participate in the Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA), they have soared well below the radar as their accolades have been diminished and often ignored. This high school season, after already venturing to Tri-City Christian…
The best individual performance this year was turned in by one of the state’s elite young prospects – Desert Ridge High School’s 6-foot-5, 205-pound sophomore wing Timmy Allen. Last week, in a 75-65 win over Desert Vista High School, Allen poured in an impressive game-high 39 points and 18 rebounds. Allen’s performance caught the attention of numerous different high-major division-I programs, and this weekend Allen would receive a scholarship offer from Arizona State University. The Sun Devils have had a terrific season thus far behind the leadership of first-year head coach Bob Hurley, and now the Sun Devils are setting…
In their first two meetings this year Dysart High School would defeat Willow Canyon in both games. On Monday evening, the two teams would face each other for a third time this season, but this time Dysart (8-2) would be handed their worst loss of the season, as Willow Canyon, behind a very nice home crowd, would blow out Dysart, 61-35, behind a well-balanced offensive attack. Willow Canyon (6-3) displayed a nice offensive attack against a Dysart team that looked out of place and dysfunctional on Monday night. Led by the play of four players – 6-foot-1 senior guard Justin…

It was the best high school basketball game of the year, as the state’s top program this season, Shadow Mountain High School would face national basketball power Findlay Prep (NV) in front of a standing-room only crowd – making for an amazing basketball atmosphere. Findlay Prep (10-0) has been the nation’s top program over the last 10 years – producing many top-rated college basketball prospects and also NBA stars. Findlay would put on an exhibition on Thursday night in a huge 78-32 win over an overmatched Desert Vista HS team – setting up a huge game against Shadow Mountain on…
Pinnacle High School (3-2) has had an interesting start to the high school season. With a talented group of young prospects, combined with a few good senior performers, Pinnacle was coming off two bad losses before entering their own tournament this week – the Duel in the Desert. A very nice event locally, organized by terrific head coach Charlie Wilde, Pinnacle is looking to get back into their winning ways this week against some good out-of-state competition. Pinnacle is off to an excellent start this week, after re-focusing as a team and getting some home crowd support from their fans. …
