For so many years in the state of Arizona, our state has been really void of many opportunities for Arizona’s top prospects to gain maximum exposure to college coaches, scouts and media. As a result, Arizona top club teams and players have ventured out of the state to have an opportunity to improve their college recruitment. This weekend’s Southwest All-American Camp did just that for each of the camp participants, while also establishing a new event that will take the state to another level each year. While there are many events that take place in the state throughout the year…

The Southwest All-American Camp took place this past weekend on the campus of the Salvation Army’s Kroc Center, and did not disappoint – creating an amazing atmosphere for some of the top prospects in the Southwest to showcase their skills in front of a nice crowd of scouts and media in attendance. This year’s first annual event was one to remember, as many of the top basketball scouts/media in the West attended the event for both days. Such top-rated scouts/media as Josh Gershon (Scout Hoops), Gerry Freitas (The Hoop Review), Chris Karpman (ASU Rivals.com), Roy White (West Coast Hoops), Ryan…
While Glendale Junior College is in the process of deciding on their new head coach for the program, and it has been a serious process, the Glendale players have had to wait as well. The top returning prospect for Glendale CC this up-and-coming season is 6-foot-7 sophomore post Darnell Corwart. After a strong freshman campaign, Cowart made an absolute believer out of me, regarding his future as a division-I college prospect. Last season, while under the strong and committed leadership of former head coach Damin Lopez, Cowart flourished as a player and came into his own. Cowart would thrive in…
It was just a matter of time before he would begin to make a name for himself. McClintock High School’s gifted and talented 6-foot-1 rising junior guard Josh Baker, one of the better guard prospects in Arizona’s 2019 class, is coming off a big performance this weekend in the Arizona State Team Camp – a breakout performance for himself. This weekend, Baker poured in several 30-point games for McClintock and raised many eyebrows with his terrific play. Baker showed off a superior shooting stroke that looks effortless against the camp’s competition and proved that he is ready to take the…
One of the top overall performers in Arizona’s 2019 class is soaring well below the recruiting radar among Arizona’s top overall prospects in the class. Globe High School’s 5-foot-9, 140-pound rising junior guard prospect Robert Burries is among the elite performers in the state, after having two amazing high schools seasons thus far in his young career. This young man can flat out play and is worthy of serious recruiting attention. As a sophomore last season, Burries tore up his competition – turning in one of the best high school seasons in Globe basketball history. Burries who has numerous major…
Times have definitely changed in the sport of basketball in the state of Arizona over the years. Once notoriously known for being a state with limited basketball prospects, today, the state seems to be filled with top-rated regional and national prospects that are gaining maximum exposure and being sought after by top college programs across the country. With the emergence of new prep programs in the state and highly rated prospects attending these schools, combined with the talented prospects that already reside in the state, Arizona basketball is definitely on the rise. This week, ESPN released their new player rankings…
The Southwest All-American Camp is scheduled for July 1st-2nd at The Kroc Center in Phoenix, AZ (1375 East Broadway Road, Phoenix, AZ 85040). For the first time ever, Arizona Preps and Arizona Varsity will combine to present this camp. This event will be very unique as it will include the top overall college prospects from the Southwest (Arizona, Nevada, Utah and Colorado). The Top 10-15 performers from this event will get an invite to Ryan Silver’s Elite-100, which is held July 21-23 during the NCAA Certified Live Period. (College coaches viewing/evaluation period). There will be 120 players at the event.…
While many prospects in Arizona’s 2018 class are looking to make a name for themselves this spring and summer, one of the lesser known prospects in the class but definitely a nice sleeper prospect is Peoria High School’s active and hard-working 6-foot-5 rising senior forward Lahad Adeim. A native of Africa, Adeim is a high-energy forward prospect with very good potential for the future. Since Adeim competes in the West Valley and because his team did not reach the state playoffs last season (10-11 overall record), many basketball enthusiasts in the state have not seen this young man compete. I…
Arizona’s 2019 class of prospects looks to be very loaded with talent. Another one of the better prospects in the class is Chandler High School’s 6-foot-2 rising junior guard Vean Simon. Simon is a skilled combo-guard prospect that has seen a lot of playing time early at Chandler, while also having very good success on the club circuit at a young age. Here is my take on another talented prospect in the class. Simon has seen playing time very early for Chandler, being inserted into the starting lineup last season as a sophomore. While the team struggled at times last…
One of the top overall prospects in Arizona’s 2019 class that emerged this spring is Deer Valley High School’s 6-foot-7 rising junior post Brandon Savage. Still a developing post prospect, Savage turned in a very good spring performance for himself and now is rated by our staff as one of the better rising prospects in a very loaded 2019 class of players. I came away very impressed with this young man’s potential as a college prospect after observing him in several events this spring, and came away intrigued by his potential for the future. Savage’s high motor and ability to…
