Arizona Preps recently announced our NEW partnership with Zipps Sports Grill in Arizona. The local growing chain of Sports Restaurants has partnered with Arizona Preps to provide awards and scholarship opportunities for Arizona's top boys and girls student-athletes throughout the state each month.
Zipps Sports Grill is one of the state's premier and most popular sports grills, and combines homemade food, friendly service and drinks, with top-notch entertainment in your neighborhood. The chain has (14) different locations in the valley, and we encourage the entire Arizona basketball community to visit their locations today!
Zipps is supporting the Arizona High School basketball community a great deal, as they are working with Arizona Preps to create Player of the Month and Player of the Year awards for boys and girls high school basketball players in the state. The awards are decided by the Arizona Preps' staff, and are mailed each month to the recipients of the award. The awards will include food at the Zipps' locations.
Zipps was also a major sponsor for last year's 22nd Annual Arizona Preps Fall Showcase (October 2020), which was loaded with many of the state's top high school varsity and prep programs.
Our next selections for the award included our selections for Players of the Month (boys and girls) for December. Our staff has selected two more winners of the monthly award, and this new honor goes to two of the elite performers in the state - Eduprize Prep 6-foot-1 senior guard Justus Jackson and PHH Prep's 6-foot-7 senior post Kennedy Basham.
Justus Jackson is among the state's best and unique overall talents. Still uncommitted, Jackson is one player definitely on the rise in Arizona's 2021 Class, as he has had numerous big performances since joining the Eduprize Prep program. After surprisingly deciding to leave Millennium High School before the start to his senior season, Jackson has raised his overall level of play and developed his body to a new level, which resulted in a terrific individual performance in the Grind Session - leading Eduprize to a huge upset win of Prolific Prep (CA) during the circuit play. Jackson has numerous Division-I offers to his credit currently, but many more schools are now looking to get involved with him. Jackson injured his wrist during competition in December, and should be making a return to the court next month. College programs should begin to line up for this young man, who is a tremendous talent.
Kennedy Basham did not see much playing competition this fall, as a result of the pandemic, but the lengthy junior post prospect made a huge move to transfer from Pinnacle High School, and landed at PHH Prep, where she now teams up with many of her club teammates for the PHH Fire, and gives PHH Prep one of the elite girl's prep programs in America. Basham is currently rated among the elite overall prospects in America's 2022 Class by ESPN - rated as the #28 overall best prospect in America. Basham is also one of the top recruited prospects in the country, already receiving scholarship offers from such programs as UCLA, Washington, Oregon, Colorado, Kansas, Pennsylvania, Georgetown, Loyola Marymount, Utah and Vanderbilt. The list of college scholarships will absolutely continue to grow for Basham over the next year, or until she decides to give her college commitment. It is still unclear where Basham is leaning in her college recruitment.
