After a long wait, one of the top available high school seniors in the West has come off the board. Boulder Creek High School's gifted 6-foot-8 senior forward Andrew Bhesania, a skilled and versatile prospect, has committed to Boston University and Head Coach Joe Jones and his staff.
Bhesania is coming off an outstanding senior campaign in which he led Boulder Creek to a 22-6 overall record and a strong showing in the Open Division State Playoffs. He averaged 17.3 points, 9.6 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.2 blocks per game as a senior. These impressive stats followed a strong junior season, where he averaged 19.1 points, 8.4 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game - firmly establishing himself as one of Arizona’s elite frontcourt prospects.
Earlier in his recruitment, Bhesania received offers from UC Santa Barbara, Nevada, Northern Illinois and Northern Arizona. Despite the lack of newer offers during his senior season, Bhesania’s talent never wavered. His ability to score inside and out, rebound at a high level, and protect the rim made him a hot commodity for programs looking for length and versatility in the frontcourt.
Bhesania gained valuable experience playing last spring and summer on the Nike EYBL circuit with the prestigious Vegas Elite program, where he held his own against top national competition. His play on the circuit further showcased his ability to stretch the floor, play facing the basket, and defend multiple positions. With excellent size, length, and an evolving offensive skill-set, Bhesania has all the tools to develop into a high-level contributor at the next level. His commitment to Boston University gives the program a major addition with strong upside.
Bhesania is a big-time sleeper prospect, and many programs will look back and realize they missed on a talented, high-character player with significant long-term potential. Boston University is getting a steal.
Arizona Preps Scouting Report: As a college prospect, Bhesania has good size and length on his frame, which he has added some nice size to over the past couple years. He has developed well throughout his high school career. Once a long, thin rangy prospect, Bhesania has filled out nicely and has a nice overall feel for the game and a good overall skillset, especially for his size. He is fundamentally sound, and is a good shooter with range. He is also able to put the ball on the floor and create his own shot from mid-range. He is a good driver of the ball and a solid finisher that will become a much stronger finisher over time, as he continues to mature physically and gets even stronger. He is an active rebounder that rebounds outside of his area. Also a very good shot-blocker that competes hard. He still has serious upside for the future, and is a very good sleeper prospect for the 2025 Class in the West.
