One of the elite talents in Arizona's 2015 class has gone almost forgotten through the biggest spring and summer of his basketball career. While Arizona's top talent was showcasing themselves to college coaches, scouts and media throughout the busy recruiting month of July, Central High School's 6-foot-6 senior forward Famoun Miller would miss playing the entire month.
Miller is as talented a prospect as there is in the state of Arizona. He actually might be the best individual basketball talent there is in the state.
Miller has been a troubled prospect for some time. Miller has been raised by many that love him over the years and has had to bounce around from one situation to another, while trying to gain some level of consistency. As a result, Miller has struggled to find consistency - in his own life or on the basketball court.
Miller missed playing on the summer circuit this July.
As a result of Miller missing the summer comptetion, it will be tough for Miller and his college recruitment. He will, of course, land at the junior college of his choice, but he will have missed out on the possible high major division-I college recruitment he may have garnered from his athletic talents on the basketball court.
And Miller is a high major talent - once considered the state's top prospect in the 2015 class, before the development of Sammy Barnes-Thompkins and the emergence of Dane Kuiper. Miller's ability to score the basketball inside and out, while possessing excellent athleticism and physical strength, is attractive. He is also a very unselfish passer with very good court vision. A flat-out big time talent that would have had college coaches raving, had he had less sissues.
Miller is not the first top-rated prospect that I have seen this happen to. In my 19 years of experience I have seen it all. So Miller is not the first, and he won't be the last to suffer this experience, but I am in his corner completely and hope that he can get the help he needs to have a much better future.
