One of the nation’s premier high school basketball prospects, AZ Compass Prep's 6-foot-9 rising senior DeMarcus Henry, continues to strengthen his standing as one of the elite prospects in the country. The 6-foot-9 standout from AZ Compass Prep, currently rated as the No. 3 overall prospect in the 2027 class by ESPN and 247Sports, has enjoyed a tremendous spring, and is expected to be one of the most heavily watched prospects in America throughout the summer.
Henry made major news across social media this week, when he announced that he has narrowed his college recruitment to eight finalists. His list includes University of North Carolina, Arkansas, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, Ohio State and UCONN.
At this point, it remains very unclear which program holds the edge in Henry’s recruitment, making his eventual college decision one of the biggest storylines in America's 2027 class. While nothing is certain, Henry is expected to announce his commitment sometime this fall, and it does not appear that his recruitment will extend much beyond that timeframe.
Henry will spend the remainder of the summer competing with Vegas Elite on the Nike EYBL circuit, where he will undoubtedly be one of the featured attractions at every event.
After a dominant spring, college coaches from virtually every major conference will continue evaluating one of the nation’s most complete frontcourt prospects, as he looks to further elevate his national profile.
This fall, Henry will return to a loaded AZ Compass Prep roster that has the talent to compete for a National Championship on the Nike Scholastic EYBL Circuit. With his size, versatility, athleticism, and elite skill set, Henry is expected to be the centerpiece of one of the nation’s premier prep school programs.

Arizona Preps Scouting Report: Henry is the most intriguing prospect nationally in America's 2027 Class, as he has very good size at 6-8 and growing, and is a very lengthy and rangy prospect that makes the game look easy for himself. He has extreme upside as a player and his length makes him very good defensively, as a strong rebounder and finisher on the offensive end and a strong defensive rebounder. He plays with good overall energy and is very skilled offensively. A left hander, Henry is a good shooter from three-point distance and has improved his shot over the past year, while also being able to make plays off the dribble and finish in traffic. He is a strong driver and finisher, and is a very good scorer in the transition and in the open court. An active rebounder and shot-blocker as a result of his length and timing. A good defender with good lateral quickness. His game will only continue to improve with improve physical strength over time. A future NBA prospect in the class, and one the most intriguing prospects in America's 2027 Class. Has a big time future ahead of him.
