Not every prospect is a finished product, especially when they are bigger post prospects that conveniently take much longer to develop. This is definitely the case for Estrella Mountain Foothills High School's rapidly developing 6-foot-11 rising senior post Jeff Goodere. While Goodere posted modest numbers last season as a junior, he is working very hard on his game, body and approach to the game to become a serious college post prospect.
There is a very limited list of true bigger post players around the country, but the state of Arizona seems to be absolutely loaded with them - a very nice but rare fact in our state. While many post prospects in the state are elite-level talents and receiving loads of Division-I interest, Goodere is an almost unknown prospect that plays in the very underrecruited West Valley. His high school program finished with a 10-15 overall record on the season in the state's smaller 4A Division. As a result, most basketball enthusiasts in Arizona do not even know him. But I do, as I have seen his maturity over the last two years, and have been very impressed with his growth as a player and striving to become a player.
Goodere is a long, athletic and thin post prospect with loads of upside for the future. He is very quick and athletic with excellent bounce for his size, which you rarely see of prospects his size. It is obvious that Goodere has not played the game for long, and he is also very young for his grade and should be considered a member of the 2022 Class. If he was a member of his true class, it would change our conversation about him, but his best years are well ahead of him. A red-shirt year, post-graduate year or a brief stint in the junior college ranks would be very beneficial for him in his college career. While he could go right to a four-year college program, it is understood that he is a long way from reaching his full potential as a player, so it will be a marathon, not a sprint for him.
Either way, I look forward to continuing to follow his progress as a college prospect over the next year and his continued development. He will make someone very happy over time. I look for him to have a breakout season, if there is a season, due to the growing COVID-19 pandemic. If not, he will have another year of development for himself, which he needs regardless.
Goodere plays for legendary Arizona club basketball coach Kenny Mullins and The Factory, and traveled with their program this week to Utah to take part in a 5-Team Round Robin organized by the Utah Prospects (UT).

Very active post player that runs the floor very well and finishes strong at the rim, but still needs to add serious size and physical strength to maximize his potential as a player. Has a good jump hook, but is still very raw offensively. Has a soft touch from the perimeter. Has good footwork. Has good hands and feet. An active rebounder and shotblocker. Good passer out of the post. A developing prospect with loads of upside. Sleeper prospect.
