The road to success is rarely a straight line, and few Arizona junior college prospects have traveled a more unique path than Yavapai College's talented and gifted sophomore guard Jason Parent. The 6-foot-4, 185-pound sophomore guard from Yavapai College has officially committed to Arkansas Tech University, capping off a remarkable journey that has seen him overcome adversity while developing into one of the top junior college prospects in the West.

Parent first made a name for himself at Prescott High School, where he became one of the most dominant players in Northern Arizona basketball history. As a senior, he averaged an eye-popping 26.5 points, 8.6 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 3.3 steals per game, establishing himself as one of the state’s premier prospects.

After graduating from Prescott, Parent signed with Northern Arizona University, where he spent a season redshirting before continuing his collegiate career at Nebraska Wesleyan University. Looking for a fresh start and an opportunity to continue developing his game, Parent returned home to Arizona and enrolled at Yavapai College, a decision that would ultimately reignite his basketball career.

This season, Parent emerged as one of the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference’s top performers. He averaged 16.3 points, 7.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game while shooting an efficient 43.6% from the field. He started every game for Yavapai Head Coach Kevon Davis, and became the heart and soul of the Roughriders’ lineup.

His outstanding play earned him ACCAC Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2025, while also being selected Second Team All-Conference. Those accolades only begin to tell the story of the impact Parent made on both ends of the floor. Throughout his basketball journey, Parent has continued to persevere through challenges and remained committed to his development. That persistence has now paid off with his commitment to Arkansas Tech University, where he will continue his collegiate career.

I have followed Jason Parent for many years and have always been impressed by his combination of athleticism, toughness, and versatility. He is a tremendous competitor who plays the game with passion and energy. His ability to impact winning in multiple ways makes him an intriguing addition for Arkansas Tech.

Congratulations to Jason Parent and his wonderful family, as well as the Yavapai College basketball program on his commitment and signing from our staff here @ Arizona Preps.

Arizona Preps Scouting Report: Jason Parent possesses NBA-level athleticism and physical tools that immediately catch the eye. He is an explosive athlete who plays well above the rim and has become known for his highlight-reel dunks and ability to make momentum-changing plays. At 6-foot-4, he combines strength, athleticism, and versatility to impact the game in numerous ways. Offensively, Parent is a natural scorer who can create his own shot and stretch defenses with his improved perimeter shooting. He has a good shooting stroke with range and is equally effective attacking the basket in transition or in half-court situations. While he is at his best as an off-guard, Parent has the ball-handling ability and court vision to play point guard when needed. Defensively, he may be even more impressive. His toughness, lateral quickness, and athleticism allow him to defend multiple positions effectively. He is an active rebounder for his position and consistently brings energy and effort on every possession. A very good overall sleeper prospect for the guard position, and one of the top juco guards in the West.
