One of the elite talents in Arizona's 2025 Class of rising senior prospects continues to soar well under the recruiting radar. While he has received offers for himself, Prescott High School's gifted and ultra-athletic 6-foot, 165-pound rising senior stud guard Uriah Tenette had a tremendous junior season, followed up by an excellent spring performance for himself. Tenette heads into a busy recruiting month of July as one of the top performers and college prospects in the West. While college coaches have focused this spring on filling their rosters for next season, they will now turn their attention this summer to evaluating the best in high school and juco prospects for the 2025 Class. Tenette is one prospect that has proven his ability to play immediately at the college level.
Last weekend in a Cali Live event, while playing for his Prescott High School program, Tenette scored 41 points in a big win for his team, and he averaged an impressive 33 points per/game in the (4) games for the event. Tenette is among the best pure scorers of the basketball in America, regardless of class, and he proved it throughout the spring and also in the recent Section 7 event, as he was among the highest scoring producers of all prospects in the West. In the Section 7 event, Prescott had their best showing ever, as they finished with a very strong 3-1 overall record for the weekend. Tenette was terrific in the event, and did not disappoint any college coaches in observance of his unique level of talent.
Tenette ranks among the single best scorers of the basketball in the country. As a junior, Tenette averaged an eye-popping 31.9 points per/game this past season, to go with 5.6 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 2.7 steals. Tenette, while small in stature, posted huge numbers and is sharing a resemblance as a player to one of my former players that I coached, former NBA guard Isaiah Thomas. Like Thomas, Tenette is left-handed, an explosive athlete and can score the basketball at a uniquely high rate. Tenette led Prescott High School to another amazing season under the leadership of Head Coach Travis Stedman - posting an impressive overall record of 21-5. As a sophomore, Tenette and Prescott HS finished with a strong 21-4 season last year. Tenette will finish with one of the best overall high school careers in Arizona history, once it is all said and done - no doubt about it.
Tenette is worthy of much more and higher college recruitment as a result of his unique level of talent that he possesses. Thus far, Tenette has received offers from UC-San Diego (UCSD) and Northern Arizona. He is definitely worthy of many more offers, as he can flat out play, regardless of his size.
Tenette has played for Head Coach Kenny Mullins and The Factory the past two club seasons, and will look to raise his recruitment over the next two weekends, as both weekends are during the NCAA Evaluation Period (July 11-14 and July 19-21). I would expect that numerous college programs are seriously recruiting Tenette, they just have not extended an offer as of yet. Another strong July could make the difference for him.
Tenette is one of the featured performers that our Arizona Preps' staff will be following this month, as we look to conclude summer competition. Prescott High School will have another opportunity next high school season to win it all, in the 4A Division and also the Open Division, as Tenette is simply good enough to keep his team in every game. The combination of Tenette and club teammate, 6-foot-11 rising senior post Zane Gaul, will have Prescott prepared to have their best season yet next year. Tenette still has a lot of work to do for his own recruitment though this summer. While he has already done more than enough to warrant much more recruiting interest, another terrific performance in July should seal the deal for him.
I will continue to follow Tenette this July, as he looks to generate much more recruitment for himself. I will look to bring you more recruiting updates on him as they continue to develop. Tenette is also an excellent student as well, and should receive much more recruitment from high-academic college programs this summer, and in the fall.
Arizona Hoop Review Scouting Report: A native of Sacramento, California, Tenette is an explosive scorer of the basketball that can shoot with range, or create for himself and his teammates off the dribble. He has a nice change of pace and speed, which sets up his drives to the basket or mid-range game. He can catch and shoot or shoot on the move, while also looking to set up his teammates for scoring opportunities. Tenette is a left-hander, which also makes him difficult to defend. He is smaller in stature but has excellent explosiveness and athleticism, which allows him to score the basketball over bigger defenders in the lane. Tenette is still growing, but his athleticism more than makes up for his lack of size. He is a strong ball handler and passer that sees the floor and pushes the ball. He has added some serious physical strength over the past two seasons, and I look forward to his continued growth physically, which will benefit him a great deal over time. A big-time guard prospect that is still an excellent sleeper guard prospect for the right Division-I college program.
