The 2012-2013 high school basketball season is about to start across the state with either some Thanksgiving tournaments or regular season games on November 20th. Before the teams officially start, many schools scrimmage other teams to prepare for the long road ahead.
Mesa High School had a scrimmage on Wednesday, November 14th versus Central HS, Brophy Prep and Basha HS. A very impressive group of players, considering you had 5 different players 6-8 or taller, which is very rare in Arizona. All 4 teams scrimmaged 2 quarters against each other and rotated between the 2 gyms.
Here were some of the top players from the 4 schools that I saw on the night ...

Some Quick Hitters: After watching the scrimmage, it’s easy to see why Mesa HS is rated as one of the favorites to win it all. Led by DJ Henderson, they will be a handful come February in the playoffs. Also the arrival of PG Tyrone Ayala from Basha HS will help run the team and off-set the loss of PG Eddie Little, who transfered to North Canyon HS. Tyrone is a true PG who looks to feed others first and then looks for his shot. Maurice Kirby also looked like he slimmed down and will be real strong for Basha HS this year.
