While it had been thought for some time that Brophy Prep's sharp-shooting 6-foot-4 senior guard Ryan Burbach would develop into something special as a shooting specialist, Burbach has become much more this off-season, and, as a result, Burbach has seen his college recruitment catch serious fire. Plainly said, Burbach is blowing up and has blown up - receiving numerous Division-I offers this summer, as a result of his strong play throughout the spring and summer months. Burbach's ability to show his overall versatility as a player this club season has led to many offers for Burbach, who will now have a big decision to make in the fall.
The last time I wrote about Burbach, he was just beginning to see his college recruitment heat up, as he had received several Division-I offers at the time. Since then, Burbach, as I had expected, saw his recruitment completely soar to new heights this summer, as many Division-I programs extended offers to him as a result of his strong play for his high school program this summer, but heavily as a result of his play with the AZ Select UAA club program this spring and summer - a team where every top prospect in the group benefited a great deal in their recruitment. Burbach has received a long list of offers now, making him one of the hottest prospects in Arizona's 2025 Class.
In an era when Division-I programs are heavily focused on the NCAA Transfer Portal annually, Ryan Burbach has seen a dramatic improvement in his college recruitment over the past month. Burbach amazingly went into the spring evaluation period with a couple offers to his credit, but has now received (5) new offers for himself - all in the month of July. With offers already from Houston Christian and Northern Illinois heading into the spring, Burbach has now received new offers from Sacramento State, Manhattan, Cornell, Dartmouth and Cal Poly.
To gain these offers, Burbach has improved a great deal as a player, as he has added a lot to his repertoire - proving that he is more than just a shooter. Burbach showed toughness defensively, rebounded from the wing position and put the ball on the floor and made plays. As a result, Burbach will now have a big decision to make this fall, as he will look to sign during the Early NCAA Signing Period. Burbach will most likely take some official recruiting visits soon, before ultimately making his big college decision.
Burbach is coming off a serious breakout junior season for himself, as he helped lead Brophy Prep to a 17-11 overall record on the season in the state's 6A Division. While playing a very tough season schedule this past season, Brophy Prep Head Coach Matt Hooten and his staff relied heavily on the play of Burbach last season, who had his best high school season to date for himself. He will surely have a big senior season for himself this year, as he returns to his Brophy team this high school season riding loads of confidence, gained through his play over the spring and summer.
I will continue to follow Burbach's college recruitment closely, and look forward to bringing you more updates as they continue to develop. He has certainly earned his current recruiting position through hard work and getting it done.
Arizona Hoop Review Scouting Report: Ryan Burbach really stepped up his game for Brophy Prep last season, and has developed nicely into one of the state's best pure shooters of the basketball. As a result, he has become a nice looking prospect in Arizona's 2025 Class. I previously spoke about Burbach's tremendous growth as a player and prospect from his 2023 spring and summer performance, and he has proven me right, as he has emerged nicely as a top performer among the class. Burbach is sure-fire prospect on the rise when you consider his length of body and big feet, which suggests that he will only continue to grow a great deal over time. He has major upside and potential for the future still as a college prospect, and is fundamentally sound with an excellent shooting stroke with range. He has a very good overall skill level offensively, and just needs time for his body to continue to mature. As he continues to grow and get physically stronger, Burbach will maximize his potential as a player. He plays with a competitive fire and has a superb shooting stroke with unlimited range on his shot, and a high basketball IQ. Burbach is definitely a prospect that college programs need to consider, as he can be a specialist as a shooter, and now has added a lot to his overall offensive and defensive package. A good sleeper prospect in the 2025 Class.
