Few players in Arizona high school basketball have left the kind of impact that Basha High School's 6-foot senior guard Mason Magee (University of San Francisco signee) has during his career. A dynamic senior guard and one of the elite guard prospects in America’s 2026 class, Magee recently wrapped up a remarkable high school career that will long be remembered in the state of Arizona. This fall, Magee will continue his basketball journey at the University of San Francisco, where his skill, athleticism, and leadership are expected to help him make an immediate impact. As he prepares to graduate this spring, Magee leaves Basha High School as the program’s all-time leader in scoring, assists and steals, an incredible accomplishment that speaks to both his individual brilliance, and his ability to elevate the players around him.

During his senior season, McGee once again proved why he has been regarded as one of the top guards and players in the state for many years, as he showcased his ability to control the game from the point guard position. Over the course of his entire high school career, Magee compiled impressive career averages of 15.6 points, 3.8 assists, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.4 steals per game, numbers that reflect his consistency and high-level performance throughout his time at Basha. His leadership helped guide Basha High School to a 20–8 overall record this season and a semi-final appearance in the 2026 AIA Open Division State Championship. Basha’s season came to an end in a tightly contested 67–64 loss to Sunnyslope in the semi-finals, but Magee was outstanding throughout the year and played a major role in the team’s success.

Magee’s rise to prominence didn’t start in high school. He was widely regarded as one of the most sought-after middle school prospects in Arizona basketball history, and from an early age it was clear that he possessed special talent. Interestingly, Magee was always younger than most players in his grade and frequently competed against older competition throughout his youth and high school career. That experience helped accelerate his development and prepared him for the high level of play he would eventually reach. As a youth, Magee was awarded as the MVP of several Arizona Preps' events, where he quickly emerged as one of the most exciting young guards in the state. Because of those early performances, the Arizona Preps' staff has had the opportunity to follow his journey from the very beginning - watching him develop into the outstanding player he is today.

"It feels good to see the hard work Mason has put in, and continues to put in, paying off," said Ray Magee, Mason's father. "I've always told him hard work pays off, and the results have continued to show so far."

Magee's game is built around elite quickness, athleticism, and playmaking ability. He is extremely fast both with and without the basketball, allowing him to create scoring opportunities for himself while also setting up teammates. His exceptional court vision and ability to control tempo made him one of the best floor generals in Arizona high school basketball, and those traits should allow him to make an immediate impact at the University of San Francisco. With his athleticism, basketball IQ, and leadership qualities, Magee has all the tools necessary to thrive at the college level.

Magee also represents a special group of elite Arizona prospects who have been closely connected to the Arizona Preps' basketball community throughout their high school careers. Alongside Magee, several other top prospects from the 2026 class have been featured in Arizona Preps events and coverage over the years, including St. Mary's superstar Cam Williams (Duke signee), Millennium's 6-foot-6 senior Cameron Holmes (University of Arizona signee), AZ Compass Prep's senior guard Kaden House (University of Maryland signee) and Kalek House (Xavier University), Verrado's Brandon Barrett and Central High School's John Mattingly (University of Nevada signee).

Arizona Preps has had the privilege of following Magee and each of these players throughout their high school journeys and looks forward to watching them compete at the collegiate level.

Beyond his impressive statistics and achievements, Mason Magee's legacy extends far beyond the basketball court. Throughout his career, he has represented himself, his school, and the Arizona basketball community with class and professionalism. He is widely respected by coaches, teammates, and opponents alike. Magee truly did things the right way, and he now serves as an excellent role model for younger Arizona prospects who hope to follow in his footsteps. From dominating youth basketball events to becoming one of the most accomplished players in Basha High School history, Mason Magee's journey has been remarkable. And while his high school career has come to an end, his basketball story is just beginning.

"For us, the key to Mason's success has been and continues to be - remain humble, keeping the main thing, the main thing, and continue to stay in love with the gym," said Ray Magee. "Also balancing life off the court as well. Be a great person and human being."

With his talent, athleticism, and work ethic, Mason Magee is poised to have a tremendous future at the University of San Francisco and beyond. Thank you him and his wonderful father Ray Magee for allowing Arizona Preps to be a part of this tremendous journey.
