As we prepare to release our new player rankings for the 2024 Class, Bella Vista Prep's 7-foot junior post Makhan Diof will be making a nice splash in these new rankings for sure. Diof recently moved to the state of Arizona to attend Bella Vista Prep, and his emergence has helped to take the National Team at Bella Vista to entirely another level. Diof is a superb talent for college programs to begin to pursue, as he is a future pro-level talent with size, length, athleticism and a nice overall skillset. Diof is now as good a prospect as there is in Arizona's 2024 Class.
Bella Vista Prep has returned to form this season behind the overall leadership of Matt Gordon and his very experienced coaching staff, led by former Division-I assistant coach Tony Miller. Gordon and his team have taken over the school and the basketball program at Bella Vista Prep, and it has made a tremendous difference for the program. The Bella Vista Prep program, which once won a National Championship on The Grind Session, had some struggles in recent years past. The program now is on the rise once more, and the addition of prospects like Makhan Diof, definitely have the program headed in the right direction. The Bella Vista Prep program now has a nice balance of coaches and players that is very impressive.
A native of Senegal, Diof is the best pure overall talent in the program, and he is a mere 2024 prospect. At 7-foot in height, Diof is an athletic, skilled and versatile talent that raised many eyebrows with his play recently in the AZ Compass Prep Classic. In the event, he showed an ability to run the floor very well and finish strong at the rim. He showed good low post moves and also an ability to shoot the basketball from mid-range. He has very good explosion off the ground as well for his size. This young man has a very high ceiling as well and so he is a tremendous prospect for college programs to begin recruiting.
I am looking forward to watching this young man develop over the next two years under the strong leadership of Tony Miller, who is the Head Coach of the National Team, and also one of the best player development trainers I have seen. The future looks very bright for Bella Vista Prep and Makhan Diof.
