Salpointe Catholic High School's talented 6-foot-5 junior wing prospect Majok Deng is among the elite prospects in the West for the 2019 class. Deng has received loads of college recruitment already throughout his young career, and this weekend he decided to take an unofficial recruiting visit to one of the top basketball programs in America - Duke University.
Deng and members of the Powerhouse Hoops program visited the Duke campus, and had an amazing opportunity to see the Blue Devils' first practice, and spend some time with the Duke coaching staff. They also had an opportunity to tour the Duke basketball facility and the campus.
The Blue Devils have expressed serious interest in Deng. Deng has received a nice list of offers already, as Stanford, Arizona, Arizona State, Georgia Tech, Cal, Vanderbilt, UNLV, Utah, New Mexico, Portland, Grand Canyon and San Francisco have each offered scholarships to Deng already.
Deng has not yet indicated a leader in his college recruitment, and looks to still be wide open. With so many nice offers on the table for himself, it will be a very nice recruiting process for Deng. It will be very interesting to see if Deng will wait to take any official recruiting visits, or if he will pop before next fall of 2018.
Deng is a sure-fire talent for the future with an amazing motor. He also has a bright future ahead of himself. I will continue to follow his recruitment closely, and bring you any recruiting updates as they continue to develop.
Arizona Hoop Review Scouting Report: Deng has a unique ability to play the game - possessing a high motor that allows him to outplay his competition consistently. Deng is a high-major athlete with a serious motor on both ends of the floor. He is very active on both ends of the court and plays with excellent confidence - his best attributes as a player. Deng is a very good slasher and open court player, and is difficult for opposing defenders to keep off the glass. He is able to play inside and out. Deng is also a good shooter with range on his shot, but likes to operate from mid-range where he is able to go around defenders and make plays around the paint. He is fundamentally sound and is a very good ball handler and passer. An excellent teammate, as he plays with reckless abandon and is a winner. Deng is a capable lock-down defender - his best attribute as a player. He has a bright future ahead of him and will be an asset to any program that he plays for in the future.
