One of the top prospects in Arizona's 2018 class of younger prospects is Brophy Prep High School's talented and sharp-shooting 6-foot-6 rising junior wing Jaxson Baker. Baker emerged this spring very big and quickly developed into one of the state's elite prospects in the 2018 class.
Baker went into the spring evaluation period regarded as one of the top talents in the state's 2018 class, and he did not disappoint, as he came up very big in each of his team's games, while playing for a loaded Powerhouse Hoops 16U Black team that won many games on the spring circuit. In the process, Baker was the team's leading scorer and offensive threat - on a team that featured many of the state's top prospects from the 2018 class.
Possessing very good size for the wing position and still growing a great deal, Baker has a lot of room for growth and upside - suggesting that he is just scratching the surface of how good he can be over time. Currently, he is an excellent shooter of the basketball with terrific range on his shot, and a nice knack for putting up points in a hurry. He is a mis-match for most opposing guards, as a result of his nice size and length, but he is at his best as a small forward or 3 on the floor - able to handle the basketball and also make plays off the dribble.
Last high school season, Baker was a major contributor for a Brophy team that will return many of their top performers from last season next year. But this spring he emerged as an elite-level talent that is now garnering serious recruiting interest from many different mid-major plus programs in the West.
Such schols as Santa Clara, Pepperdine, Cal-State Northridge, San Jose State, Portland State, Northern Arizona, and Southern Utah are each already in hot pursuit of the talented wing prospect.
As a result of his terrific play this spring, Baker also earned an invitation to the Under Armour Elite 100 Camp, which will be held in Los Angeles, CA this July during the NCAA Evaluation period.
Look for Baker to contiue to garner loads of recruiting interest this summer, and begin to see scholarship offers pour in for himself, as he is definitely one top-rated prospect that made the most of the spring evaluation period.
