Phoenix College (19-4, 12-3) has been terrific this junior college season with their play - currently leading the ACCAC among division-II schools.  On Wednesday evening, Phoenix would come out flat, and unable to match the intensity level of visitor, Eastern Arizona Junior College.  Eastern Arizona would cruise to a nice 98-87 road victory.

Eastern Arizona (11-12, 4-11) would lead from start to finish - leading by as many as 26 points (48-22) in the game's first half.  Phoenix would cut the Eastern Arizona lead to 7 points (87-94) with :13.3 left, but failed to get any closer in the game.

Eastern Arizona shot an impressive 61% from the field in the contest (40-for-66), and were led by the play of 6-foot-1 freshman guard Davon Bolton, who finished with a game-high 24 points in the win.  6-foot-4 sophomore wing DeAndre Love (pictured) was very impressive with his play.  Jaron Richardson (16 points) and Landon Swartz (13 points) both contributed well for Eastern also.

Phoenix College was led by freshman guard Lavette Parker with 16 points in the loss.

“We simply came out with no energy, and we let Eastern get comfortable," said Phoenix College head coach Matt Gordon.  "It certainly wasn’t our best effort, but give EAC credit, because they took advantage of our mistakes.  Now we have to bounce back quickly with Saturday’s game looming.”

Recruiting Notes:  Phoenix College was recently ranked this week as the #8 overall team in the country by the NJCAA.  The #8 slot is a rise of two spots from last year’s ranking, and it’s the 8th time in the 9 polls released this season that the Bears are part of the NJCAA Top 10.  The Bears are now one of two ACCAC teams representing the conference in the NJCAA Polls.  Arizona Western is 25th in the Division-I Poll.
