One of the elite prospects in Arizona's 2021 Class of prospects is now off the recruiting board, as Dream City Christian Prep's 6-foot-11, 210-pound senior forward Alex Tchikou decided to pull the trigger this weekend - announcing his decision to choose the University of Alabama in a verbal announcement that he made. Tchikou gave Alabama Head Coach Nate Oats and his basketball staff a big commitment, after being one of the most sought after recruiting targets in the country.
The verbal commitment came in very surprising fashion, as Tchikou held a long list of division-I offers for himself from such schools as Kansas, Arizona, Baylor, TCU, Arizona State, NC State, USC, Maryland, Texas A&M, UCLA, Nebraska, Ole Miss, UNLV, Nevada, Mississippi State, Fresno State and Western Kentucky, just to name a few. Many more schools had also looked to offer him throughout the spring and summer competition, but the COVID-19 pandemic caused him to miss out on a big spring and summer for himself. Rather than wait any longer, Tchikou decided that he had found his fit.
Tchikou is a big-time talent that raised the overall level of recruitment for the Dream City program, and also impacted the recruiting in the state of Arizona, as he has changed the game - quickly becoming one of the most sought after recruiting targets in America's 2021 Class, after joining the Dream city program last season.
A native of Paris, France, Tchikou is a tremendous talent with pro potential for the future, and international playing experience. He has excellent size, length and versatility on the basketball court. He is a unique talent with an ability to make plays with the ball in his hands, or without the basketball, where he is able to create plays as a result of his tremendous length and mobility.
Tchikou is among the elite overall prospects in the state, ranking among the best overall prospects the state has to offer, alongside Michael Foster (Hillcrest Prep), Sadraque Nganga (AZ Compass), Maxwell Lewis (Hillcrest Prep), Ty Ty Washington (AZ Compass), Arthur Kaluma (Dream City Christian) and Dylan Anderson (Perry HS), among others.
Congratulations to Tchikou on his big commitment from our Arizona Preps' staff, as he has a very bright future ahead of him. Congratulations also to the Dream City Christian Prep program on this big announcement, as well as Tchikou's trainer, Julius V., of Julius V Elite Basketball Training, who has developed many of the elite basketball talents in America.
Arizona Hoop Review Scouting Report: A native of Paris, France, Tchikou is a tremendous talent with NBA pro potential for the future, and international playing experience. He has excellent size, length and versatility on the basketball court. He is a unique talent with an ability to make plays with the ball in his hands, or without the basketball, where he is able to create plays as a result of his tremendous length and mobility. What makes Tchikou unique, is that he has a good shooting stroke with range, and can also put the ball on the floor and finish plays in traffic. He runs floor hard in transition and is a high level finisher at the rim. He is a willing passer and also a cutter in the lane. He is an active rebounder and shotblocker, and can guard positions 1-5. At 6-11, he is a serious match-up problem for opposing teams. A big-time overall talent that has a serious future ahead of him.
