The recruiting process is now finally over for Hillcrest Prep's talented 6-foot-9 senior forward Dischon Thomas. After a long recruiting process, where Thomas first gave a verbal commitment to the University of Nevada, then decided to re-open his college recruitment, he has now made his college decision once again. After thinking over his options for the spring, Thomas has found his right fit before the start to the late signing period.
This weekend, Thomas decided to end his college recruitment and give a verbal pledge to Colorado State University and Head Coach Niko Medved and his coaching staff - a very nice commitment for Thomas and a program he should be able to play well for throughout his college career.
Thomas chose Colorado State over a long list of offers from such schools as UC-Irvine, San Francisco, St. Louis, Princeton, Texas Southern and Kennesaw State.
He was just beginning to see his college recruitment begin to really take off before giving his recent commitment, but rather than wait until the spring signing period, Thomas decided to move on his interest in Colorado State and end his college recruitment. Thomas has played consistent all season long for Hillcrest Prep, and has really played exceptionally well as of late.
Thomas moved to the state of Arizona from North Carolina just three years ago. He is a stretch 4-man with a long wingspan and good overall upside as a player. He still has some room for growth ahead of him, and should develop very nicely over the next couple years of college basketball. Thomas is a nice find for a college basketball program.
Congratulations to Thomas on this commitment, and good luck to him in the future from our staff here at Arizona Preps.
Arizona Hoop Review Scouting Report: Thomas is a long and lengthy forward prospect that is able to stretch the defense, but is at his best around the paint. He has an ability to score inside and out. He has a good length of body and a nice wingspan, which will help him a great deal over time. Thomas always seems to take good shots within the offense. A good passer out of the post. An active rebounder and shotblocker, Thomas utilizes his length to make plays. An excellent offensive rebounder. Thomas' wingspan also makes him a good shotblocker. He also has good timing as a shotblocker and changes shots of players around the paint. He should really improve in this area over time. He is a strong rebounder, especially on the offensive end where he is able to effectively rebound and get put-backs for his team. He runs the floor and finishes in transition. A good sleeper prospect.
