More than a year ago, I previewed my top Breakout Performers for the high school season, and Perry High School's talented 6-foot-5, 190-pound rising senior D'Andre Harrison more than backed up my claim, as he would go on to have a big junior season for himself, and help lead his Perry High School basketball program to a third consecutive State Championship, and a second consecutive Open Division State Title. Harrison came up big all season for Head Coach Sam Duane Jr., and then continued his strong play on the club circuit this spring - becoming one of the top overall performers in Arizona's 2025 Class this spring. Harrison has been in rare form this spring and now looks ready to have an even bigger senior season for himself, and end his career with a fourth consecutive state championship.
Harrison was on another level in his play this spring, as he has performed at a high level throughout the club season. While Harrison first began the spring with Nike-sponsored Vegas Elite (NV) program, after playing with the program last club season. While he would start the spring with Vegas Elite, Harrison would then decide to make a change to Peak Basketball Academy, whom he would play with during the NCAA Evaluation Period. Harrison would have a very strong performance in Indianapolis, Indiana in a New Balance event, and then finish out the spring with several other top performances for himself.
Harrison returned this month to compete for his Perry program, during the busy month of June, and if his play in the recent Prime Time Invitational organized by Monarch Sports was any indication, Harrison would lead his Perry HS program to the tournament championship at the event, which included numerous big performances for himself through the event, and a big come-from-behind performance in the championship game, where he ultimately lead Perry to the tournament championship, without the services of superstar forward Koa Peat. Harrison's strong play was enough to lead Perry to a big tournament win amidst some of the state's elite teams.
Harrison's college recruitment is just beginning to take shape, as he currently has offers for himself from Murray State, University of Missouri-Kansas City, Northern Arizona, Arkansas-Fort Smith and Western New Mexico. Harrison will look to receive many more offers I believe after a strong performance with Perry this weekend in the Section 7 event, where his team will be one of the featured teams in the colossal weekend event.
Harrison has excellent versatility as a player, and also a nice overall offensive skillset for himself. He has a nice ability to make plays on the floor. Harrison is very explosive for his size and he plays much bigger than his size suggests - a nice attribute that he possesses, which makes him very valuable to his team. He can score from all (3) levels and is a strong rebounder and finisher around the basket for his size. He is very skilled and plays with a high level of confidence. Harrison is a true mis-match on the basketball court and is effective inside and out - making him difficult to defend. A very good sleeper prospect.
Look for Harrison to become one of the hotter 2025 prospects in the state, from a recruiting standpoint, especially after this weekend's Section 7. This young man is as consistent as they come in his performance throughout his high school career, and I look for him to finish off an excellent high school career for himself next season.
