The top sophomore point guard prospect and one of the top overall performers in the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference (ACCAC) has pulled the recruiting trigger before the start to the 2013-2014 junior college season.
In the recent ACCAC Juco Jamboree, Central Arizona Junior College 6-foot-1 sophomore point guard prospect Lanerryl Esters proved that he will be among the elite prospects in the conference this season.
Esters has decided to give a verbal commitment to Cal-State Fullerton and new head coach Dedrique Taylor. Taylor was recently hired by the program after spending numerous seasons under the leadership of Herb Sendek at Arizona State University. Taylor will enter his first season as head coach this season.
Esters took an official recruiting visit to Cal-State Fullerton this weekend and really enjoyed his time at the program, according to Central Arizona JC head coach JD Pollock.
"He liked Coach (Dedrique) Taylor a ton," said JD Pollock.
A division-I transfer from Tennessee Tech University, Esters will look to be among the top individual scorers and assist leaders this up-and-coming season in the ACCAC.
Esters is capable of scoring the basketball at a high rate and is an excellent scorer in transition. A very athletic, quick point guard prospect that thrives in the open floor. Has excellent body control and is a terrific finisher in traffic. A very good shooter with range on his shot and a quick release. Excellent on-the-ball defender. A very nice talent from the guard position.
Congratulations to Esters and his family, as well as to the Central Arizona JC basketball program on this accomplishment.
