One of the biggest surprises this summer involved the coaching change @ Notre Dame Prep, and also the departure of several players from the program. One of the big surprises for me was the transfer of 6-foot-1, 175-pound junior guard Brody Postorino, who decided to make the move to St. Mary's High School - a very nice addition that will pay dividends for Head Coach Damin Lopez and his staff throughout the season. While merely a shooter last season for Notre Dame Prep, although a very good one, now Postorino will be asked to open up his full game and help lead a very talented Knights' program this high school season.
Postorino was one of the deadliest shooters in the state last season for a very good Notre Dame Prep program that finished with a 25-5 record. He put up good numbers as a sophomore for Notre Dame Prep, but was delegated primarily to shooting three-pointers for a team that was very talented and didn't need him to do much else. Now as a junior and playing with another very talented group @ St. Mary's, Postorino will be asked to do much more in the Knights' backcourt this season. Postorino will now become a leader in what is still a young backcourt. He will also now have the ability to show his full skillset as a player, which is really good although unique.
Postorino is coming off a good showing this spring and summer with the AZ Select 16U squad, which had a lot of success on the club circuit. Postorino was able to play his full game with AZ Select, which benefited the team and, ultimately, his future college recruitment. He will now be able to carry over that club season success to a St. Mary's team that needs strong guard play next season, especially with one of the most talented frontcourts in the West. This season will be a big one for Postorino to prove that he can lead a team from the guard position with poise, while also remaining aggressive offensively. This will be a new and challenging opportunity for him.
Postorino joined the St. Mary's team as a new face on the team during the Section 7 Event held in June. In the first game of the event, Postorino would get inserted into the starting lineup for the Knights, as they faced one of the best defensive teams in the country, Sierra Canyon High School (CA). He would handle the ball from the point position primarily for the Knights in the contest, which showed him in a much different light than what we had seen from him previously.
Postorino would play throughout the remainder of the Section 7 event, and also with his AZ Select team this summer, as a combo-guard that is capable of playing either guard position. He will need to play as a point guard to maximize his future college recruitment, so his move to St. Mary's should pay nice dividends for him over time.
As a college prospect, Postorino is a unorthodox guard prospect with a very nice feel for the game and a unique approach to playing it. You have to watch him closely as a player to fully understand and appreciate his game, which I definitely do. He is a very crafty guard that has a nice knack for scoring the basketball, whether from deep or off the dribble. He has a good handle of the basketball, which is one of his best and most surprising attributes. He can get to where he wants on the floor, and simply makes plays, and on either end of the floor. He plays with a love for the game that is glaring, and he competes hard. While he is still developing as a point guard, what he does best now is score the basketball. He has nice range on his unorthodox shooting stroke, but shoots a high percentage from three. He also is a strong driver and finisher of the basketball in the lane. He is a tough defender that competes hard and looks to disrupt opposing guards. He is a very good sleeper guard prospect in a very talented 2026 Class.
I look forward to watching Postorino this high school season with a St. Mary's program that will rely on him to provide leadership and scoring from the guard position. This is also a good sleeper prospect that college coaches need to take notice of, as they begin to focus heavily on the 2026 Class.
