Arizona Preps recently announced our NEW partnership with Zipps Sports Grill in Arizona. The local growing chain of Sports Restaurants has partnered with Arizona Preps to provide awards and scholarship opportunities for Arizona's top boys and girls student-athletes throughout the state each month.
Zipps Sports Grill is one of the state's premier and most popular sports grills, and combines homemade food, friendly service and drinks, with top-notch entertainment in your neighborhood. The chain has (14) different locations in the valley, and we encourage the entire Arizona basketball community to visit their locations today!
Zipps is supporting the Arizona High School basketball community a great deal, as they are working with Arizona Preps to create Player of the Month and Player of the Year awards for boys and girls high school basketball players in the state. The awards are decided by the Arizona Preps' staff, and are mailed each month to the recipients of the award. The awards will include food at the Zipps' locations.
Zipps was also be a major sponsor for this year's 22nd Annual Arizona Preps Fall Showcase, which was loaded with many of the state's top high school varsity and prep programs.
Our next selections for the award included our selections for Players of the Month (boys and girls) for October. Our staff selected two more winners of the monthly award - Mesa High School's senior guard Steven Cervantes and Millennium High School's senior guard Kassidy Dixon.
Steven Cervantes is an excellent floor general, and you rarely see a guard prospect with as good of a feel for the game, advanced basketball IQ and command of the floor. While he is small in size and stature, Cervantes gets a lot done and is a true play-maker that can help make any team successful, as he is a pass-first point guard prospect that sees the floor at all times, and looks to always create scoring opportunities for his teammates. An excellent ball handler and passer that sees plays before they happen. He loves the game and it shows on the court. Our staff loves watching him play. He is an excellent pick-up for any smaller college program, and is set to have a big senior season for one of the state's top basketball programs.
Kassidy Dixon (Grand Canyon University signee) is a superb talent, with serious talent for the guard position. She is a tough and gritty performer with a nice overall skill level and an aviliuty to make plays at a high level for her team. Dixon is a strong ball handler and finisher, and creates scoring opportunities for herself and her teammates at a high rate. Dixon is set to have a big final senior season for herself and Millennium High School. She gave an early commitment and will sign with Grand Canyon University, and has a very bright future ahead for herself.
