One of the top overall sophomore guard prospects in the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference (ACCAC) has made his college decision. In case you missed it, Eastern Arizona College’s talented 6-foot sophomore point guard Amari Carraway has signed a national letter of intent with Charleston Southern University, a Division-I program in the Big South Conference.

Carraway is coming off an excellent sophomore season where he helped lead Eastern Arizona to the 2024–2025 ACCAC Division-I Conference Title. The program posted a 29–4 overall record and a 16–2 record in conference play, finishing ranked among the Top 20 NJCAA Division-I programs in the country.

During the season, Carraway averaged 14 points, 3.8 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game, while shooting an impressive 43.8% from the field and 41.2% from three-point range. Over his two seasons at Eastern Arizona, Carraway totaled 639 points, 182 assists, and 170 rebounds.

His consistent play earned him ACCAC All-Conference First Team honors for the 2024–2025 season, and he was widely regarded as one of the best all-around guards in the conference. Carraway has an excellent feel for the game, plays with poise, and makes great decisions with the basketball. He’s a capable scorer at all three levels, and his shooting ability makes him a threat at all times. He is also a tough defender with good anticipation and quickness.

Originally from Fresno, California, Carraway played his high school basketball at San Joaquin Memorial High School, where he led the program to its first-ever state championship and a 26–9 overall record.

After moving to Arizona, he became one of the top junior college prospects in the West. Carraway had many Division-I schools recruiting him throughout the season, but Charleston Southern emerged as the right fit. He is an absolute steal for the program and should have an immediate impact at the next level.

With his college decision now behind him, Carraway looks to continue building on his success. Charleston Southern is getting a strong competitor, a skilled floor leader, and a proven winner. Expect Carraway to have an excellent career at the Division I level.

Arizona Preps Scouting Report: Carraway is a rare find among point guard prospects, as he is a fast and electric guard prospect that pushes the basketball hard and plays with a high level of confidence on the basketball court - on both ends of the floor. Carraway is an alpha-male that leads any chance he gets. Carraway resembles a young fighter and that of Floyd Mayweather, and he plays like it. He is tough and expects to be the best player on the floor whenever he takes the court. He knows he belongs and does not take a back seat to anyone. He is a floor general with the basketball in his hands and a facilitator that can score at a high level, which puts maximum pressure on opposing defenses. He pushes the basketball often up the floor, and is always looking to make a play off the dribble. An excellent ball handler and passer that sees the floor, and loves to create off the dribble - creating scoring opportunities for himself and his teammates. He is a very good shooter of the basketball with range, and has an explosive first step to blow past defenders and finish in the lane, which he does quite well over and around bigger defenders. Carraway has the potential to become a lock-down defender as well. He has very quick hands and feet and plays passing lanes. A complete guard prospect that is fundamentally sound and plays electric on the floor with swag.
