ACCAC Men’s Basketball Players of the Week – Weeks 11 & 12

The 2024-2025 junior college basketball season has taken serious shape now in the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference (ACCAC).  Eastern Arizona (17-3, 7-2) recently lost back-to-back conference games to College of Southern Nevada and also Arizona Western, who is on fire currently in the season - winners of their last (7) games heading into Saturday (1/25). Eastern Arizona remains in first place in the conference standings among Division-I programs. Pima College (21-0, 9-0) is currently ranked as the #5 overall Division-II junior college program by the NJCAA. Pima has won an amazing (21) games in a row this season, and remains undefeated on the season and in the conference among ACCAC Division-II programs.

Three different performers now lead the conference in scoring, as College of Southern Nevada's talented 5-foot-11 sophomore guard LeRone Wright is averaging 21.2 ppg, while Pima CC's Cohenj Gonzales is not far behind with 21.0 points per/contest for the undefeated Aztecs and Phoenix College's tough and hard-nosed sophomore guard Anthony Kangah checks in with 20.8 points per/game. Here are the Basketball Players of the Week selections for Weeks 11 and 12 of play in the ACCAC . . .

ACCAC D-I MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK - WEEK 11

CO-DI: Nadir Myers  – Yavapai – Myers scored 100 points in four games for the Roughriders last week. Myers scored 16 in a win over AZ Sol, before pouring in 30 in a narrow loss to Cochise, hitting eight three-pointers. The sophomore totaled (54) points in two wins over Community Christian - scoring 32 in the final of the two games. In total, Myers hit 21 three-pointers. 

CO-DI: Jackson Tumbridge  – Cochise – Tumbridge scored 49 points in a pair of Apaches' wins. The freshman scored 17 in a win over Yavapai, and hitting the game-winning free throws, before scoring 32 points and hitting 10 threes in a win over Central Arizona.  

ACCAC D-II MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK - WEEK 11

DII: Jayven Price – Chandler-Gilbert – Price helped lead his Coyotes' to two wins last week. Price scored 10 points and had six rebounds in a win over Phoenix College, before scoring 21 points in a win over South Mountain CC. 

ACCAC D-I MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK - WEEK 12

CO-DI: Edwin Suarez  – Arizona Western – Suarez led Arizona Western to two wins. Suarez scored 23 points and had nine rebounds in a win over nationally ranked Eastern Arizona, before finishing the week by scoring 12 points and collecting 10 rebounds against Community Christian.

CO-DI: Ben Henderson– Cochise – Henderson scored 25 points and hit the game-winning three in Cochise's 92-90 win over Southern Nevada. Henderson went 4-of-6 from the three-point line and had 7 rebounds.  

ACCAC D-II MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK - WEEK 12

DII: Cohenj Gonzales – Pima – Gonzales (pictured) has helped Pima to remain undefeated on the season, and in conference play. Gonzales led Pima to a 98-89 win over Phoenix by scoring 22 points and scoring 17 in a 95-55 win over Chandler-Gilbert.
