The always exciting ACCAC JUCO Jamboree took place on Saturday @ Chandler-Gilbert Junior College, the host program for the event. Each year the Jamboree provides a pre-season insight into the league's teams and also the top overall prospects to watch for during the season. One of my favorite events to scout annually, since I have a serious interest in juco prospects, I was in attendance throughout the day and was able to see many of the teams in action for this year's event.
Here are my top overall performers from the day, and the top prospects to watch for this season in the ACCAC from the 2024 Class . . .
Top 2024 ACCAC JUCO Prospects
Raysean Seamster 6-6 FR SG/SF Eastern Arizona Junior College - 2024 Class
A very skilled and talented 2/3 prospect that had an excellent showing in the Jamboree, as he showed his extreme versatility and athleticism in the event. A dude. Has serious potential and upside for the future. A good shooter with range, but a very good finisher and has the ability to create his own shot. A good ball handler that is capable of playing multiple positions on the court. A strong defender that plays passing lanes. Good in the open floor and in transition. A very good slasher. An active rebounder with length. Long, rangy prospect. Has a bright future.
Cooper Church 6-9 FR PF Arizona Western Junior College - 2024 Class
Church is a nice looking freshman prospect with very good size and strength. He is an attractive prospect as a result of his athleticism and bounce off the floor, and the versatility that he has. He is a solid shooter with some range, but is at his best from mid-range or in the post where he attacks the rim and has a variety of low post moves. He runs the floor hard and is a strong finisher in the open floor or in the half-court set. A good low-post defender. Will become a highly sought after prospect after a two year stint.
Jaylen Alexander 6-6 FR SF/PF Pima Junior College - 2024 Class
A skilled 3/4 prospect with good length and athleticism, and a strong knack for scoring the basketball. Can score inside and out. Has a good overall feel for the game. Gets a lot done for his size and plays much bigger than his size suggests. Has a good overall skill level. A good shooter with some range on his shot, but shoots a good percentage. An active rebounder and finisher around the basket. A good shotblocker. Long, rangy prospect. Has upside.
Thomas Hastings 6-2 FR PG/SG Scottsdale Junior College - 2024 Class
Hastings had the best performance on the day - shooting the basketball with excellent range and a very quick release. Knocked down numerous three-pointers in his two games, and was the force to raise the overall play of Scottsdale in the event. A specialist for sure. May be the best shooter in the conference. Skilled guard that can play both guard positions, but at his best as a pure shooter of the ball. A good on-the-ball defender also. Plays with very good intensity and competes hard. A great addition for the Scottsdale program late.
Cardell Bailey 6-6 FR SG/SF Yavapai Junior College - 2024 Class
A good-sized and 2/3 prospect with a good shooting stroke with range. Has a good handle of the ball and good overall versatility as a player. A good scorer more than anything. A solid ball handler. An OK passer. Good defender that plays passing lanes. A solid rebounder as a result of his size and length. Would like to see him focus more defensively to maximize his potential as a player. Has upside.
Nathaniel "Cash" Night 6-6 FR SF Cochise College - 2024 Class
A talented prospect with good size for the wing position. An excellent athlete that runs the floor and has good overall versatility. Still learning the game to play the Cochise way, but has serious potential for the future. A good ball handler. Can create his own shot. Moves without the ball and good in transition, or while slashing to the basket. A good finisher. Has upside.
Dillan Baker 6-5 FR SF Pima Junior College - 2024 Class
A bigger shooter with good size and deceiving athleticism. Shoots the ball at a high clip with range on his shot. Made a number of shots in the Jamboree with excellent range. Has a pure stroke. A specialist. An active rebounder. Good finisher. A solid ball handler and passer. Fundamentally sound.
Joel Rojas 6-7 R-FR PF Phoenix College - 2024 Class
A stretch 4-man prospect with some versatility. An active rebounder. Runs the floor well. Solid low post player that needs work still, but has very good potential. A solid finisher.
