With the junior college basketball season starting to wind up, as we get towards the end to conference play soon, the conference standings still look the same. Eastern Arizona Junior College (21-5, 14-1) continues to lead the conference among Division-I programs, while Chandler-Gilbert Junior College (24-2, 16-2) still holds on to the lead among Division-II college programs in the conference, with Pima CC (23-3, 15-3) still remaining in a close second place. South Mountain Junior College 6-foot-4 sophomore Jaylen Wesley continues to lead the conference in both scoring and rebounding - averaging 26.1 points and 10.2 rebounds per/contest.
Here are the current and recent Players of the Week in the ACCAC, as selected by the coaches in the conference this season, as there have been many top individual performances . . .
Tracy Godfrey – Cochise – (Week 13 D-I Co-Player of the Week) - Godfrey scored 54 points on 58.3 percent shooting in a pair of games against Eastern Arizona. The sophomore scored 26 points in 34 minutes against the Gila Monsters in an 83-76 loss, before scoring 28 points and grabbing six rebounds in the Apaches’ 89-87 win.
Raysean Seamster – Eastern Arizona – (Week 13 D-I Co-Player of the Week) - Seamster scored 53 points and hauled in 18 rebounds in two games. The sophomore scored 28 points and had 11 rebounds in an 83-76 win over Cochise, and followed that performance up with 25 points and seven rebounds in a loss to Cochise.
Jaylen Wesley – South Mountain – (Week 13 D-II Co-Player of the Week) - Wesley (pictured) scored 58 points, helping the Cougars to two wins. The sophomore guard started the week by scoring 29 points and going 17-for-19 from the free throw line while grabbing 11 rebounds in a 68-66 win over Scottsdale. Wesley finished the week by scoring 29 points on 8-for-16 shooting in a 100-89 win over Glendale. The Phoenix native becomes the first ACCAC basketball player to earn a national award this season, after being named the NJCAA D-II Men's Basketball Player of the Week.
Jannoy Thomas – Arizona Western – (Week 14 D-I Player of the Week) - Thomas earned his first ACCAC Player of the Week award after averaging 20.5 points per game in two games. The freshman guard scored 19 points on 7-for-11 shooting in the Matadors’ 80-70 win over Cochise, while grabbing 6 rebounds, before scoring 22 points on 8-for-13 shooting in a 78-65 loss to Cochise.
Jaylen Alexander – Pima (Week 14 D-II Player of the Week) – Alexander scored 47 points in a pair of Aztecs wins - scoring 29 points on 9-for-12 shooting in a 97-81 win over South Mountain, while grabbing 6 rebounds. Alexander finished the week by recording a double-double, scoring 18 points and hauling in 10 rebounds in a 100-90 win over Yavapai.
Raysean Seamster – Eastern Arizona – (Week 15 D-I Player of the Week) - Seamster scored 36 points in 47 minutes last week, while grabbing 10 rebounds. The sophomore scored 16 points on 7-for-11 shooting in an 82-55 win over Yavapai on Friday, before scoring 20 points on 9-for-11 shooting in an 89-87 win on over the Roughriders on Saturday.
Andre Harris – Chandler-Gilbert – (Week 15 D-II Player of the Week) - Harris scored 62 points and grabbed 21 rebounds in a pair of Coyotes’ wins last week. The sophomore scored 27 points and went 13-for-14 from the free throw line, while grabbing 11 rebounds in a 76-68 win over Scottsdale on Wednesday, before finishing the week off with a 35-point performance on 14-of-19 shooting with 10 rebounds in a 94-65 win over South Mountain.
