The time to decide on a college home has really been long overdue for Cesar Chavez High School's 2015 graduate Rashaad Goolsby. After graduating from high school and then mulling over many options for his future, Goolsby has now finally made a move - electing for a local junior college basketball power.
This week, Goolsby chose to sign a national letter of intent with Phoenix College and head coach Matt Gordon. Phoenix College is known for developing and also landing a lot of Arizona's eligible basketball talent, especially late in the spring.
Goolsby was among the best sleeper prospects in Arizona's 2015 senior class, and soared well below the recruiting radar throughout his high school career. Goolsby's talents were worthy much higher college recruitment from college coaches around the country.
Goolsby is a very long and rangy prospect with loads of talent and upside that has grown physically a great deal over the past several years. He is a left handed performer also, which makes him a very intriguing prospect as well, with an ability to score around the basket and also from the perimeter. This will be his best asset for himself over time, as he matures and develops.
Where Goolsby should excel as a player over time will be in his ability to defend, which he is currently a good shotblocker and has the length to play the passing lanes. Over time he should also be able to defend several positions on the floor.
Goolsby was selected as the Tournament's Most Valuable Player in the 2014 Phoenix Union High School Basketball Tournament.
Look for Goolsby to provide immediate production for this year's Phoenix College team, and also become one of the better performers in the ACCAC next junior college season as a freshman.
