The Arizona Power Prospects coached by former college standout Mark Brown have quickly developed into one of the state's premier teams and also one of the top 16U teams in the West. After falling to another Arizona Power 16U team in Los Angeles a week before, the team would regroup and come together in a big way in Las Vegas a week later - winning this year's West Coast Elite Spring Classic.
Led by the strong leadership of Mark Brown, a former basketball standout at Michigan State and a terrific coach of youth basketball, this very talented group of sophomores and freshmen would defeat some very talented competition in Vegas to win it all and take home the 16U crown.
This team was led by the inside play of Pinnacle High School's 6-foot-8 sophomore forward Patrick Kelly (pictured) and 6-foot-7 sophomore forward Mason Johnson, Mountain Pointe High School's 6-foot-6 sophomore forward Meekness Payne and Centennial High School's 6-foot-4 sophomore forward Trent Washington. On the perimeter, the Prospects were led by the heady point guard play of Pinnacle HS 6-foot freshman guard Trent Brown and the steady shooting of 6-foot-4 freshman Jordan Mains and Horizon High School's 6-foot-2 freshman guard Aidyn Albright.
What is most impresssive about this group was the amount of freshmen that have played a key role in the team's success this spring, suggesting that these young prospects will be very good over time. This team has a very nice balance of wings, posts and guards and they play an aggressive brand of basketball.
A member of the Arizona Power program, this group will be one to watch for the future as they continue their 2016 spring and summer, and develop into one of the state's premier 17U teams.
