Some of these prospects have offers on the table and just need to make their college decisions, while for others, they will be looking to still garner college interest late this spring.
Here are the top available unsigned junior college prospects from Arizona's 2016 class of juco prospects - regardless of position (In no particular order) ...
Terrance Johnson 6-5 FR SG/SF South Mountain JC
Current offers: Northern Colorado, Winthrop, Central Arkansas, Southern Utah, Portland State and San Francisco
A former 4-star WR recruit (football), Johnson is a special athlete and has many football tendencies on the basketball court. He is also a very consistent shooter from the outside, as he possesses great lift and clean mechanics on his jumper. He is able to beat defenders off of the dribble, due to his long stride and elusiveness with the ball in his hands, where he is usually able to finish over or around his defenders at the rim. He has very quick twitch reads on the defensive end, as he gets in the passing lanes very frequently and finishes most plays with a big dunk, due to his great athleticism. Look for him to have a huge sophomore year, if he returns next season to SMCC. But it is more likely that he will accept one of his college offers this spring.
Andre Nikita 6-1 SOPH PG Arizona Western CC
Current offers: Unknown
Nikita was one of, if not the best point guard in the conference this season. Nikita is a bulldog on both ends of the floor as he plays with fire - from start to finish. Nikita is a great mid-range jump shooter, as he gets a lot of his points from this area, but is also very capable of knocking down 3’s as well. He has a good burst of speed off the dribble, and can get to the hole generally when he wants to. He is very vocal on the court and will do whatever it takes for him or his teammates to get the win.
Justin Jones 6-6 Soph SG/SF Cochise College
Current Offers: Unknown
Jones was the best shooter of the basketball in the ACCAC conference this season, and has a great knack for knocking down shots at a high rate. A volume shooter, Jones hits a great variety of 3’s off of the dribble - using screens or just finding the open gaps in a zone or man-to-man. He possesses great lift on his jumper and has a little kick-back in his shot, which makes it very hard to defend. Jones is also very active on the defensive end, and he is always in the right place at the right time, and gets his hands on lots of balls that come his way. A very good sleeper prospect.
Jarran Lands 6-6 Soph SF/PF Eastern Arizona JC
Current offers: Southern Utah and others unknown
Lands (pictured) as one of the best frames for a post in the ACCAC conference. While he may be a tad undersized for the power forward position, Lands is truly a bully on both ends of the court - especially when he is playing 100 percent. He is very active on the glass on both ends off the floor and gets a lot of his point either off of putbacks, or drawing fouls and heading to the free-throw line where he shoots a healthy clip. He also possesses great footwork and has soft hands in the post. He has the ability to feel where his defender is playing him and make moves accordingly. If Lands plays with fire, there are few defenders on the court who can stop him in the post. Another very good sleeper prospect.
Kyle Bingham 6-9 SOPH PF/C Mesa CC
Current offers: Numerous Division-II offers
Bingham is a very intriguing prospect for many reasons. At 6-foot-9, he can comfortably guard both post positions on the court, due to how versatile he is of a defender. He has the footspeed to cut off some guards from going to the basket, and also has the length and reaction time to block shots from post players and centers. While offense is not his real strength, Bingham does has some solid post moves and a nice touch around the basket. He is OK at the free-throw line, but does need to polish up his offensive game from 15-feet and in - regarding shooting the basketball.
