It has been an amazing story for IMG Academy 6-foot-9 prep post prospect Andre Adams. The top unsigned prospect from Arizona’s loaded 2014 class while a senior at Avondale's Westview High School, Adams traveled to IMG Academy in Florida for a year to improve his academic situation. After some serious hardwood and academic focus, Adams got it done and became a full NCAA academic qualifier two weeks ago.
With many college programs in hot pursuit of Adams, today he decided that he knew where he wanted to go, and decided to pull the trigger with the Arizona State Sun Devils - giving a verbal commitment to new head coach Bob Hurley and his staff.
Adams was considered as one of the top available unsigned post prospects in the country by national scouting services and media outlets across the country. Adams had received scholarship offers recently from such college programs as Texas, Marquette, Memphis, USC, UNLV, San Diego State and Grand Canyon, before deciding to pull the trigger with the Sun Devils.
Adams had planned to take official visits before making his decision, but after an unofficial visit to Arizona State on Sunday and spending time with the ASU staff, Adams decided that he wanted to end the process and make his decision, rather than wait.
Adams will now sign a national letter of intent in the fall and will be a freshman for ASU this fall. Coach Hurley and his staff will have to decide whether or not to red-shirt Adams next season. Either way, I look for this young man to have a wonderful career for the Sun Devils, and I am very proud of his accomplishments in his young life. A wonderful story for any young man/woman that has goals and ambitions in life and have to overcome obstacles to get there.
