Seth Mason Verbals To Rising D-II Program

It is amazing when you see a prospect that received very little playing time for his high school program, continue to work hard and benefit in the end.  This is definitely the case for super athletic 6-foot-7 combo-forward prospect Seth Mason.

Mason is one of the state's most athletically gifted performers, but saw very little playing time last season for Pinnacle High School.  The team was definitely loaded with talent, but, in my opinion, could have used this superb athletic talent a great deal more than they did.  As a result, Mason will be transferring high schools next season and will look to make a dramatic improvement in his play and numbers as a senior.

While Mason received very little opportunity to play at Pinnacle HS this past season, unlike many other high school prospects, he will get his opportunity to play college basketball for a rising division-II program in the West.

After being evaluated consistently by hard-working head coach Craig Snow of New Mexico Highlands University, Snow extended an offer to Mason recently, and Mason accepted - giving an early verbal commitment to the coach and his program.

This is really a perfect fit for the athletically gifted prospect with loads of upside for the future.  Mason has amazing potential over time, as he has recently worked hard to develop his overall fundamentals and offensive skillset.  While he is not a skill-guy of any sorts, his offensive abilities are very respectable and his bounce off the floor is almost eye-popping, as he finishes very high above the rim and with quickl ift off the floor.  Mason is still very thin physically and will need to add some serious muscle and girth to his frame over time, but he has a body that should handle much more size quite well.  As he matures physically, look out.

Mason is playing his club basketball this spring and summer for the strong Arizona Power program, and will look to gain some valuable experience on the AAU/club circuit before lacing them up next high schoo lseason - something he needs very much after not seeing much action this past high school season.

Mason came almost out of nowhere last fall (2014)  and made a big splash in several local exposure events.  It has been reported that Mason will attend Higley High School next fall.

Congratulations to Mason and his family on this tremendous accomplishment from our staff here at Arizona Preps.

Arizona Hoop Review Scouting Report:  Mason is a raw, athletic talent with loads of athleticism and potential for the future.  Still very thin physically, Mason burst onto the recruiting scene after a strong performance in several Showcase events during the fall of 2014.  Mason is a very intriguing prospect as a result of his unique bounce off the floor, which is almost surprising when you see him take off.  Mason is an excellent finisher above the rim and is a highlight reel in the open floor.  Mason is a very good mid-range performer that has a knack for scoring the basketball in the lane and around defenders on the baseline.  He still needs to add consistency on his jump shot from longer ranges and acquire a stronger handle of the basketball to reach his maximum potential as a player.  As he gets much stronger physically, his overall approach to the game will really develop.  A solid rebounder with excellent length of body and good timing, but he still lacks the physical strength to get good inside position consistently.  Utilizes his length and athleticism though to keep balls in play for offensive put-backs.  A very good shot-blocker with good timing.  A very intriguing prospect that has tremendous upside for the future.  An excellent prospect for a smaller college program that has time for him to develop.
