Elite Class of 2027 Forward Selects Rebels Over Florida State, Syracuse and SMU, Giving Head Coach Chris Beard Another Elite National Prospect
Another one of Arizona’s premier prep basketball prospects is headed to the Southeastern Conference. In another significant recruiting victory for one of the nation’s top college basketball programs, CIA–Bella Vista Prep’s nationally ranked 6-foot-10 senior forward Ahmed Nur announced his commitment to the University of Mississippi on Saturday, October 10, 2026, providing Ole Miss Head Coach Chris Beard and his coaching staff with a major addition to their 2027 recruiting class. Nur, an exceptionally talented and versatile forward, has established himself among the nation’s elite prospects after a remarkable rise in the national recruiting rankings. The highly regarded four-star prospect is currently ranked No. 21 nationally by ESPN. He is also considered one of the country’s premier power forwards in America's 2027 Class.
Nur chose Ole Miss over an impressive group of finalists that included Florida State, Syracuse and SMU. For Ole Miss, the commitment represents an important recruiting achievement as Beard continues assembling talent capable of competing at the highest levels of college basketball. For CIA–Bella Vista Prep, it marks another major college commitment and further demonstrates the program’s growing influence within Arizona’s nationally recognized prep basketball landscape.
Nur’s decision to attend Ole Miss followed an extensive recruiting process that attracted considerable attention from major college basketball programs throughout the country. The talented forward emerged as one of the nation’s fastest-rising prospects during the spring and summer of 2026, generating scholarship offers from programs including Kansas, Purdue, Alabama, Minnesota, Syracuse, Florida State, SMU and numerous other Division-I institutions.
Beard’s personal involvement in Nur’s recruitment played an important role in the talented forward’s decision. During an interview with Rivals following his announcement, Nur explained that his relationship with Beard strengthened considerably during his official visit to Oxford. He also expressed confidence that he could contribute immediately upon arriving at Ole Miss. That belief, combined with the opportunity to compete in the highly regarded Southeastern Conference, helped make the Rebels his preferred destination.
For Beard, securing a commitment from a nationally ranked forward with Nur’s combination of length, athleticism and offensive versatility represents another significant step toward strengthening the program’s future. One of the most impressive aspects of Nur’s basketball journey has been his rapid development into a nationally recognized prospect. Originally from Hopkins, Minnesota, Nur previously competed for Hopkins High School before transferring to CIA–Bella Vista Prep in Arizona for his senior season. His development accelerated during the spring and summer of 2026, as his performances against elite competition began attracting national attention. Nur’s recruiting stock increased dramatically as college coaches recognized his unusual combination of positional size, fluid athleticism, shooting ability and long-term potential.
Perhaps his most significant performance came at the prestigious NBPA Top 100 Camp in Rock Hill, South Carolina, where he established himself among the event’s outstanding performers. Nur earned Most Valuable Player honors after averaging an impressive 14.8 points and 7 rebounds per game. Even more impressive was his offensive efficiency. The talented forward shot an outstanding 64% from the field and 58% from three-point range during the event. Those remarkable shooting percentages demonstrated his ability to score efficiently both around the basket and along the perimeter. His performances against many of the country’s most highly regarded prospects further elevated his national recruiting profile.
By the conclusion of the summer, Nur had emerged as one of the most sought-after forwards in the Class of 2027. His commitment to Ole Miss represents the culmination of that remarkable recruiting rise.
What makes Nur such an intriguing prospect is his combination of length, mobility and offensive skill. Nur possesses the size and physical tools to compete at multiple frontcourt positions. His combination of shooting ability, coordination and athleticism creates significant matchup problems for opposing defenders. Offensively, Nur has demonstrated the ability to operate along the perimeter, make open three-point shots and attack defenders off the dribble. He also possesses the athletic ability to finish above the rim. His shooting mechanics and offensive fluidity are particularly impressive for a player with his size.
Nur’s ability to stretch opposing defenses makes him an attractive prospect in today’s college basketball environment, where versatile forwards capable of playing multiple positions have become increasingly valuable. Defensively, his length and mobility provide opportunities to develop into an effective defender against multiple positions. As Nur continues adding strength and improving his physical development, his overall impact could become considerably greater. Nur’s combination of size, athletic versatility and perimeter shooting are important areas for his continued development.
Nur is not simply an interior prospect. He is a versatile offensive player with the physical tools and developing skills to impact the game in numerous ways. His ability to continue refining those skills will be essential as he prepares for the demands of SEC basketball.
Nur’s commitment represents another significant achievement for CIA–Bella Vista Prep and its basketball program. The Arizona-based national prep program has continued establishing itself as a destination for talented basketball prospects seeking increased competition, exposure and opportunities to advance to major college basketball programs. The commitment of Nur comes during an exciting recruiting period for the defending National Champion program. Another nationally ranked CIA–Bella Vista Prep senior, talented 6-foot-6 wing Jalen White, recently announced his commitment to Mississippi State University.
The commitments of Nur and White provide the program with two more highly regarded senior prospects headed to Southeastern Conference basketball programs. Their decisions also illustrate the recruiting reach of Arizona’s nationally competitive prep basketball programs. College coaches from throughout the country continue identifying Arizona as a destination for premier basketball talent. With a growing number of nationally ranked prospects competing throughout the state, Arizona has developed into one of the country’s most closely followed basketball recruiting markets.
Nur’s decision to attend Ole Miss provides another example of that continuing development.
